1、The mausoleum of Yellow Emperor is the only emperor tomb recorded in The Records of the Grand Historian，the firstbatch of national key cultural relics protection unit,class 5 A tourist destination,and boasts of the Number 1 mausoleumon the earth.Now,I am going to show you how to introduce the famous
2、 scenic spot.Ladies and gentlemen,today we are goingto visit the mausoleum of Yellow Emperor.The mausoleum of YellowEmperor,Xuanyuan,founder of the Chinese nation stands at the top of Mt.Qiaoshan,north of Huangling County seat.t isthe only emperor tomb recorded in The Records of the Grand Historian，
3、the first batch of national key cultural relicsprotection unit,class 5 A tourist destination,and boasts of the Number 1 mausoleum on the earthYellow Emperor was great tribal chief at the time towards the end of primitive society in China.He was honoured as theancestor who had initiated Chinese civil
4、ization.He invented jade weapons,carts,boats,bows and arrows.Lei Zu,his wife,was good at raising silkworm;Cang Jie,his imperial historian,created the Chinese pictograph;Da Rao,one of his officials,worked out the first Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch Calendar”;Ling Lun,his official composer,develope
5、d musical1instruments.All of these billiant achievements put forth by Yellow Emperor are attributable to the later success of Chinaas one of the worlds four countries with an ancient civilization.Yellow Emperors exploits went down in history also because he had punished the evil and the wicked,and u
6、nified theChinese nation for the first time.In that historical age,the Chinese people labored,lived and multiplied on the vast landaround the Yellow River valley.Emperor Yan and his people of the Qiang tribe inhabited the middle;Tai gao and his Yitribe lived in the east;Chi you and his Man tribe liv
7、ed in the south;and Qiang,Dee and Rong tribes lived in the north andwest;Yellow Enperor and his tribe led a nomadic life then,in the northwest.Later they migrated to the middle.In a battlelaunched by the Man tribe led by Chi you,whose aim was to seize the middle area,Yan Di was defeated and turned t
8、oYellow Emperor for help.The combined forces defeated chi You.At last,Yellow Emperror unified these tribes andbecame the first unifier of the Chinese nation after 52 battles.Yellow Emperor was said to have lived to be 118.One day on an inspection tour to Henan,Yellow Emperor heard asudden crack of t
9、hunder from the sky,and a yellow dragon descended in front of him.The dragon said to him,“You haveaccomplished your mission.Now,please return to Heaven with me.”The emperor knew he was not in a position to runcounter to Heavens will and could do nothing but mount the dragon and go wih it.When flying
10、 over Mount Qiaoshan ofShaanxi,the emperor asked the dragon to land so that he could appease his subjects.At the news,the peple hurriedover and wept bitterly.Having been urged by the yellow dragon,Yellow Emperor again mounted it.But the people gottight hold of his clothes,trying to make him stay.How
11、ever,the yellow dragon took him away.All that the people had leftof him was his hat and his clothes,which they buried on Mount Qiaoshan in a tomb.That is how the legend goes,yetmany people believe that Mount Qiaoshan is exactly where the great mans final resting place is.The burial ground is about f
12、our square kilometers.It is surounded by mountains and rivers,and is covered with lushforest.According to statistics,there are over 60,000 one-thousand-year-old cypresses there.Anyone who reaches thetop will pass a stone tablet with the inscription:“Both civil offcials and mlitary officers must demo
13、unt here”.It is saidthat in the ancient times,those who came to pay homage would walk from this spot up to the tomb.In front of the tomb,there is a memorial pavilion with a huge stone tablet,on which Guo Moruos calligraphy is carved.It reads“Mausoleum of Yellow Emperor.Behind the pavilion,there is a
14、nother tablet with four character Qiao Shan Long Yu(Mount Qiaoshan Dragon Carriage).A little farther up stands the Mausoleum of Yellow Emperor facing south,right in the middle of the nountain top,which isfour meters high and 50 meters in circumference.About 40 meters in front of the tomb is a 20-met
15、er high platform witha stone tablet on one side,which says Han Wu Xian Tai(Han Emperor Wu Dis Praying Platform).It is said to have beenbuilt in110 B.C.for Emperor Wu Di of the Han Dynasty to pay homage to Yellow Emperor,and to pray for good luck onhis way back from an inspection tour.Since then,it h
16、as been a state ceremony to pay homage to Yellow EmperorsMausoleum on Chinese Memorial Day.Many eulogies to Yellow Emperor by emperors of later dynasties have beenpassed down through the ages.Before 1949，some famous senior statesmen of the Nationalist Party,such as Yu Youren,Jiang Dingwen,and Cheng
17、Qian,visited here.The Chinese Communist Party Central Committee sent its representativeshere to honor this great man when it was in Yanan.On the Memorial Day of 1937,Lin Boqu,entrusted by Mao Zedongand Zhu De,commander-in-chief,came to officiate at the ceremony.And now China still keep the custom to
18、 holdceremony honoring Yellow Emperor on the Memorial Day.Here are some photos of the magnificent scenarios of thepast memorial activities.At the foot of the mountain stands a temple known as Xuanyuan Temple,where there are still some structures,ancientcypresses and stone tablets.The first thing tha
19、t strikes ones eye upon entering the gate is a huge cypress,19 meterstall,ten meters in circumference at the bottom,and six meters in circumference in the middle.It would take more thanseven people to encircle the tree with outstretched arms.Some foreign scholars call it“father of world cypress”.Leg
20、end goes that it was planted by Yellow Emperor himself,and it could be 4000 years old.To the north of the gate,there is a hall and a pavilion with 47 stone tablets on display.In front of the main hall of thetemple stands another tall tree,known as the Cypress for Hanging Armor.It is covered with sca
21、rs in regular patterns onits bark,seemingly,marked by armor;and holes could be found in the trunk,with broken nails inside.Cypress rosin flowsout constantly from the holes,making this cypress unique among all the cypressses in the temple.According to thelegend,Emperor Wu Di left all these marks when
22、 hanging his armor on it.Above the door of the magnificent main hall is a large horizontal tablet with a four-charater inscription:”Ren Wen ChuZu”(Founder of Human Civilization).Inside the hall is a gorgeous shrine for the Yellow Emperor.2Ladies and gentlemen,we are now coming the end of our todays tour here.Thank you for your time.3
