1、Statement of PurposeTransformers series have always been my favorite movie. It brought me to a world full of robots that behave and think as real human beings. Is it even possible? How to make science fictions into reality? With all these questions, I started college at Zhengzhou University of Light
2、 Industry and majored in mechanical engineering.Four years there, I have grasped every possible opportunity to acquaint myself with fundamental mechanical engineering concepts and knowledge. On the one hand, with innate enthusiasm and rigorous approach of study, I have excelled in courses including
3、Principles of Mechanics, Mechanical Design, Fundamentals of Machine Manufacturing and many others. The aforementioned classes undoubtedly deepened my understanding of mechanical design and theory, and thus provided me with a firm foundation for future study. At the same time, it has instilled confid
4、ence in me and motivated me to delve further. On the other hand, unlike most of my peers, I was born with an imaginative mind of the ability of conceptualizing everything in three-dimensional space. I enjoy spending time thinking about novel mechanical structures. For example, the idea of crawl robo
5、ts had vividly emerged in my mind long before they came out. With this being said, I clearly knew that simple imagination alone meant nothing. 6、wing what you did and what you learnt.Therefore, I have taken the initiative to actively participate in a series of research projects, hoping to hone my research skills and hands-on ability. One case in point involved the design of a smart GQ38/45-60 high-pressure valve). I was mainly responsible fo
7、r designing the mechanical transmission for the electric device, as well as simulating and testing the design entity for future manufacturing. One of the biggest challenges I came across was how to realize the 10:1 manual transmission speed ratio. To tackle this issue, I consulted professors in our
8、schoofs power machineries institute. By researching literature overseas and domestic, I spent numerous sleepless nights in the lab and finally solved the problem with the employment of transmission with less teeth difference.批注YW2: The committee knows much more about SCARA than you. 9、what is SCARA is like teaching fish to swim.Another project worth mentioning was titled The Mechanical Arm Structural Design of a Manipulator Type SCARA. I was first introduced to the fundamentals of designing robots and robotic devices in one of my electives. The idea of turning metals and wires in
10、to order-taking robots simply fascinated me. Through this project, my main duties included programming, debugging and using software to dynamically simulate the mechanical arm movement. With little experience, it certainly posed a great challenge to me. Instead of批注YW3: You need to provide more deta

Before long, I have learnt how to program a STC (89C52) microcontroller, b
12、uild a regulated power 5V DC power supply, and solder electronic components as capacitors, resistors and transistors. I was also able to solve the problem of selecting the most suitable mechanical parts after countless trials and errors. Looking back, this project definitely serves as one of the mos
13、t important turning points in my academic career. For one thing, I have obtained sufficient programming skills including A, B, and C and developed proficiency in using various lab and electric equipment. For another, my research competence has achieved a whole new level with mathematical modeling an
14、d analytical thinking.In addition to strong academic background and extensive research experience, I was also fortunately granted industrial exposure while interning at Xian Northern Industrial Furnace Manufacturing Co. Ltd. from June to Sep 2013. For the first time, I had the opportunity to communi
15、cate with and learn from senior mechanical engineers regarding the technical design, manufacturing and installment of furnaces. With my exceptional performance, I was soon trusted by co-workers to individually design engineering drawings and supervise construction site. Through the process, after no
16、ticing certain industrial loopholes that needed to be fixed, such as the silt deposited at the bottom of gravity dehydrator and the poorly-designed access hole, I immediately reported my findings to higher management and proposed my own resolution plans. I believe this internship experience has give
17、n me detailed and working knowledge of the process of real-world industrial projects and further solidified my interest in mechanical engineering.批注YW5: Put the professors name here.批注YW6: Put the specific industr/ direction that you aim to develop your business in.Having worked diligently thus far,
18、 I believe the next stage of my learning will be best facilitated by a research-oriented program like MS. in Mechanical Engineering at TAMU. I have always known the superb reputation of your engineering school and the prominent position it holds. I am particularly enticed by the core courses offered
19、 by your program including MEEN608, 613 and 651. My interest has been furthered by the research currently conducted by Prof. X It would be a great honor for me to join his X lab. Given the opportunity, at TAMU, I hope to further my study in terms of the design, development, analysis, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems. Upon graduation, I plan to land an entry-level mechanical engineer job. In the long run, I aspire to lead an engineering team in a multinational corporation with a number of five to ten subordinates and ultimately build my own start-up company in X)industry.
