1、Unit 1 People of AchievementPeriod 1 Reading and Thinking 教学设计教学目标1 .能正确理解使用下列词汇：crucial, vital, commit, academic, objective, botanical 等。2 .能读懂并理解专题新闻报道，掌握该类型语篇的标题特征、结构特征和语言 特点。3 .通过阅读开篇页信息，熟悉单元主题语境，预测单元内容，明确学习内容。4 .能够把握主题，运用寻读策略快速找出语篇中描写人物外貌、品质等特征的 表达。5 .能够了解诺贝尔奖获得者屠哟哟的生平和她发现青蒿素的主要研究过程，分 析和探讨屠呦呦获奖
2、的原因，理解我国传统中医药对人类健康和世界发展的贡 献。教学重难点【教学重点】引导学生了解、熟悉专题新闻报道的语篇特征，掌握按时间顺序叙述人物经历 的方法。【教学难点】引导学生积极探索屠哟哟获得成功的多方面原因。教学过程Step 1 Warming-up1. Look at the opening page and discuss the following question.2.
