4、 In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for Masters Degree Under the Supervision of Professor Ma Dong Qiqihar University May, 2013齐齐哈尔硕士学位论文 I 摘 要 人们的思维和语言密切相关。网络语言作为一种非常流行且与人们生活息息相关的 语言,在其概念化中隐喻充当着一个很重要的角色。所以我们要系统的对其概念构成进 行研究的话,就必须从概念隐喻的角度去理解,并把与之相对应的表达形式来分类细化, 所以人们对事物的思维方式与认知活动对理解网络语言的深层涵义有十分重
5、要的作用。 大多数人对某些网络语言的理解只是看字面意思而忽略其深层意义,从而导致人们对网 络语言的误读。为了使人们对网络语言有更好的解读和运用,本研究克服传统隐喻理论 将隐喻研究局限于修辞学领域的 界限,试图在跨语言层面上对汉英网络语言进行对比研 究,本文以概念隐喻理论为依据,以汉英网络语言为文本从汉英网络语言中的隐喻出发 分别对什么是隐喻,概念隐喻的分类和特征做了对比分析研究,从这些对比研究试图找 出产生汉英网络语言在概念隐喻理论下共同点和不同点的原因进行探讨。 通过对汉英网络语料的分析,发现汉英网络语言在隐喻理论下存在相似点和不同 点,一方面由于隐喻的本质都是一样的,加上都以经验主义为基础
6、的哲学观相似的生活 经历以及在互联网和全球化的影响下,使得汉英网络语言存在相似之处;由于对隐喻的 理解和其所处 的语境有密切的关系,鉴于英语所处的社会地位,很多汉语词汇来自英语, 所以在一些词汇中英汉存在一一对应关系。另一方面,由于文化传统,不同的生活经历 以及语言自身的特点等差异,汉英网络语言在喻体和目的喻的选择上有所不同。 随着互联网的全球化和网络交际的不断发展,网络语言被越来越多的网民使用,在 隐喻的帮助下网络语言易被理解和接受,使得人们愿意去尝试接受新事物。但是由于网 络语言发展迅速,本文只是针对目前出现的网络语言隐喻现象进行对比分析,由于自身 对网络语言的理解的局限以及对有些网络语言

Network language is one kind of
8、very popular and closely relationship with people living. Metaphor plays a vital role in the human daily-life. So to research the concept of the structure systemically, we must understand it from the perspective of conceptual metaphor and refine and classify the related expressions. So the ways of t
9、hinking of people to things and cognitive activities play a vital role in the understanding the deep meanings of the network language. As for the network language, most people just see the literal meaning and ignore its deep meaning. In order to make people have a better interpretation and applicati
10、on to the network language, this study overcomes the traditional metaphor theory which limits the research in the field of rhetoric metaphor. Based on the theory of conceptual metaphor, and according to the Chinese and English network language as the target text. This paper starts from the metaphor
11、of Chinese and English network language of doing some comparative research analysis on what is a metaphor, the classification and characteristics of conceptual metaphor. This thesis tries to find out the similarities and differences from these Chinese and English network language underlying the conc
12、eptual metaphor theory. Through the analysis of many Chinese and English network language, We can find out that there exists similarities and differences underlying the metaphor theory. On the one hand, due to the same of the nature of metaphor, and the similar empirical philosophy and similar life
13、experiences and with the influence of the Internet and globalization, which make the Chinese and English network language have similarities; Because there is close relationship in the understanding to metaphor and its context, in view of the status of English in society, a lot of Chinese words come
14、from English, so there is a corresponding relationship between English and Chinese. On the other hand, due to the cultural traditions, different life experiences and the characteristics of the language itself, there are some differences in the choice of metaphors. With the fast development of the gl
15、obalization and the Internet communication, network language are used by a growing number of netizens, with the help of the metaphors, network language are easily understood and accepted by those netizens, which makes people willing to accept new things. Nevertheless, because the network language ha

The main detailed of the contents include as following: 1.1 Background of the Study With the fast development of the society and economic, the internet is widely used in all works of life. So there are more and more catchwords appeared on the interne
25、t. I am interested in the catchwords which are popular on the internet. So, my thesis is about the Chinese and English network language based on the theory of conceptual metaphors. Linguists and rhetoricians have paid attention to the study of metaphor for more than 2000 years. There are abundant an
26、d various theories about metaphors. The earliest systematic study of metaphor was made by Aristotle who regarded the metaphor as the deviation from the normal usage of language. In his opinion, metaphor was mainly a figure of speech, a kind of decoration of language. So the past study of metaphor ha
27、d been confined to literature and rhetoric due to the influence of his view. Since 1950s, there was a radical shift in studying the metaphor from the specialized concern of rhetoricians and critics to a central concept in the process of studying human cognition. During the shifting process, a new th
28、eory of metaphor appeared which was different from the traditional views. As Lakoff & Johnson had said that: t4 metaphor, for the most people, is just a tool of poetic imagination and the rhetorical flourishing; it is not only the ordinary language but a matter of extraordinary. In additionally, typ
29、ically, people not only view metaphors as the characteristic of language but also it is the thought or action rather than as a matter of words.”1 For this reason, most people thought that they could get along well with each other without metaphors. On the contrary, we have found that metaphors are p
30、ervasive in everyday life of people, not just in language, but also in the thought and actions. In terms of our ordinary conceptual system of ours thinking and actions, it is fundamentally normal in nature. Lakoff and Johnson put forward the conception of the conceptual metaphor in his book In metap
31、hors we live by, they studied many conceptual metaphors expressions existing in English such as argument is war,2 etc. Many foreign scholars have been done a great deal of researches on conceptual metaphors, in the meanwhile, there are also many researches about the metaphors from the aspect of cogn
32、ition in China. Especially in recent years, many articles have been published in various journals or magazines. 33、contrastive study on the Chinese and English underlying the conceptual metaphors theory is still very little. 1.2 Research Objective and Significances Network language based on the conceptual metaphors theory is significant and quite interesting phenomena in the aspect of cognitive linguistics. Base
34、d on the previous study, the purpose of this paper mainly reveals reasons leading to the similarities and differences of Chinese and English network underlying the conceptual metaphor, and tries to answer the questions whether abstract concept in Chinese realized via metaphor in the same way as that
35、 in English about the conceptual metaphors such as “INTERNET IS A VIRUL WORLD”, “MOP IS A BUILDING” 3etc. It is hoped that we can have a better understanding of the phenomena of Chinese and English network language based on the conceptual metaphors. Just as Lakoff and Johnson point out that: “metaph
36、orical orientations are not arbitrary, they have a basis in our physical and cultural experience.,4 According to conceptual metaphor theories and the working mechanism of metaphors, the present study is a cognitive study of metaphors in Chinese and English network language. It helps deepen our comparative studies on conceptual metaphors which appear in different areas on internet and provides theoretical insight into t
