Ask Ss to look at the board and check the word to see if they know them.2. Show some examples of how the sen
4、tence work.教学过程 Step 3 PresentationAfter knowing the types of questions, we now need to find out the strategies on reading.1. Questions on main idea:(1) Read the first sentence to get the main idea. Passages like exposition, argumentation usually put its main idea at the beginning of the passage.(2)
5、 Read the last sentence to get (he main idea. Sometimes, the main idea of the passage is put al the end of the passage as a summary.(3) Read the beginning and the end of the passage. Sometimes, there are sentence of the main idea both at the beginning and at (he end of the passage. Generally speakin
6、g, sentences are not (he same and recitation. Instead, the sentence at the end is to summarize and improve of the first sentence.(4) To get the main idea in the middle of the passage.(5) Summarize to gel the main idea: some passages do not have its main topic sentence. However, we could get the main
7、 idea through the words.Example:U.S.ors believe that second-hand smoke may cause lung cancer in people who do not smoke. Nonsniokers often breathe in the smoke from other peoples cigarettes. This is second-hand smoke. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reports that about fifty-three thousand p
8、eople die in the United States each year as a result of exposure o second-hand smoke.It is harder for children to avoid second-hand smoke. In the United States, nine million children under the age of five live in homes with at least one smoker. Research shows that these children arc sick more often
9、than children who live in homes where no one smokes. The damaging effects of second-hand smoke on children also continue as they grow up. The children of smokers are more than twice as likely (o develop lung cancer when they arc adults as children of nonsmokers. The risk is even higher for children
10、who live homes where both parents smoke.1 .e.le are becoming very aware of the danger of second-hand smoke. As a result, they have passed laws that prohibit people from smoking in many public places. Currently, 45 states in the United States have laws that restricts, or limit smoking. The most well-
