2、f Islamic revolutions throughout the Muslim world and repelling foreign intervention in the Middle East.In August 1998,Al Qaeda bombed two U.S.embassies in East Africa killing more than 200 people,including 12 Americans.In retaliation,the U.S.attacked targets in Sudan and Afghanistan.It committed it

3、s most devastating attack on September 11,2001,when 19 Al Qaeda operatives hijacked four planes.They crashed two into the twin towers of the World Trade Center(one per tower)in Manhattan,New York City,causing them to collapse,and a third into the U.S.Department of Defense,the Pentagon,Virginia,just
