Overview of the text1. Background Information: About Terry Fox: Terry Fox(1958-1981) is a Canadian athlete and can
5、cer research activist. Also, he is a inspirational hero. When he was 18 years old, he was diagnosed as having bone cancer and forced to have his right leg cut off. In 1980, Fox started the Marathon of Hope and began to run using an artificial leg to raise money for cancer research. The spread of his
6、 cancer eventually forced him to end his quest after 143 days and ultimately cost him his life. He ran more than 5,300 kilometers, half way across Canada. Now the Marathon of Hope takes place every year and has now grown to involve millions of participants in over 60 countries. In 2008, Terry Fox wa
7、s named a National Historic Person of Canada by the Canadian government for his significant role in the history of the country.Period Three & FourIV.
