1、U8 Study skills 知识讲解考点精讲句1： Coal, oil and natural gas are not only useful for families, but have a wider use for factories.煤、石油和天然气不仅对家庭有用，而且对工厂有着更广泛的用途。考点：not only. but (also).不但而且 not only.but(also). 用于连接两个并列成分,着重强调后者。例句：1. He plays not only the piano but also the violin.他不仅弹钢琴，也拉小提琴。2. The pandem
2、ic is a challenge not only to China but also to the world.这场疫情不仅对中国,也是对世界的挑战。【特别提醒】not only.but(also).连接两个并列成分作主语时，谓语动词的单复数要由but(also)后的成分来决定, 遵循就近原则。Not only the students but also the teacher was against the plan.不仅学生们,而且那位老师也反对这个计划。【拓展延伸】常见的并列连词还有: both.and.和都 either.or.或者或者 neither.nor.既不也不其中 eit
3、her.or.,neither.nor.连接两个并列成分作主语时,谓语动词的数要与靠近它的成分保持一致,即遵循就近原则。例句：1. Both Tom and Daniel are honest boys. 汤姆和丹尼尔都是诚实的男孩子。2. Either you or your mother was at home then. 那时要么你在家,要么你妈妈在家。3. Neither the visitors nor the guide is responsible for the fire.游客和导游都不对这场火灾负责。牛刀小试：Not only Jim but also his sister_

6、使用它们是非常重要的。as a result 因此，结果as a result 通常放在句首或中,且用逗号将其与后面的内容隔开。例句：He works hard. As a result, he becomes a rop student in his class.他学习很刻苦。因此,他成为班上的尖子生。【拓展延伸】as a result of 因为,由于;作为的结果,后跟名词、代词或名词词组,在句中作状语,相当于because of。例句：1. The plane was delayed as a result of the heavy rain.由于大雨飞机延误了。句4：If they a
7、re used or thrown away carelessly. finally some of them will run out. 如果被满不在乎地使用或浪费掉，它们中的一些最终会被耗尽。考点：throw away 扔掉，丢弃;失去，浪费throw away是动词+副词型短语,如果名词作宾语,名词放在away前后均可;如果代词作宾语,代词只能放在throw 和 away之间。例句：1. The fish smells; throw it away. 这条鱼有臭味了,扔掉吧。2. Every day people throw away about 2, 800 tons of paper
8、 in our city.在我们城市人们每天都要扔掉大约2800吨的纸。考点2：carelessly adv. 满不在乎地; 粗心地There will be an accident if you drive carelessly like this.你如果像这样马马虎虎地开车,就会酿成车祸。I broke the teapot carelessly. 我不小心打破了茶壶。【拓展延伸】careful adj. 细心的反义词careless adj. 粗心的care n. 小心carefully adv.细心地 反义词carelessly adv. 粗心地牛刀小试：根据汉语提示完成单词。Dani
