4、师签名 : 湖 北 工 业 大 学 硕 士 学 位 论 文 摘 要 20 世纪 70 年代以来,随着 “体裁 ”( genre)概念 的提出,体裁分析法逐渐被广 泛应用于应用语言学领域。然而通过研究,笔者发现专门针对翻译类期刊论文英 文摘要进行体裁分析的却很少见。 为了分析翻译类期刊论文英文摘要的体裁结构和语言特征,本文从国内外期 刊共收集了 200 篇英文摘要作为语料,自建了四个小型语料库,其中 50 篇由英语 母语学者撰写,发表于国外核心期刊;其余 150 篇由中国学者撰写,每 50 篇分别 发 表 于 国 内 核心 、 国 内 普 通 和 国 外 核 心 期 刊 。 基 于 Bhatia
5、(1993) 提出的 Introduction-Method-Result-Conclusion (IMRC)模式及 Swales 的 Move-step 模式,本 文采用了定量和定性相结合的研究方法,从体裁结构和语言特点对四个语料库进 行了分析,归纳出中英学者论文英语摘要的异同点,并试图探析出产生差异的原 因。 研究表明: 1)在摘要的宏观结构上,国内外学者都将引言和方法语步视作必备 语步;英语母语学者撰写的英文摘要语步较完整,而中国学者撰写的英文摘要大 部分都存在语步缺失或叠加的现象。另外,国外学者更注重结果语步,而国内学 者更注重结论语步。 2) 在摘要的微观结构上,由于 “面子 ”原因
6、,中国学者在引言语步 中更少采用 步骤2-指明先前的研究不足;在方法语步中,国内外学者使用策略相同;国外学 者更常采用结果语步,表明国外学者更愿呈现他们的论文结果;在结论语步中, 步骤 2-表明研究意义更常运用于国内期刊。 3) 在摘要的语言特点方面,中外学者均倾向使用一般现在时和主动语态;被动 语态常运用在方法语步中;第一人称代词在四个语料库中使用的频率都较低,但 是对于中国学者来说,英语母语学者对其使用得更频繁,表明其更强调自己本身 在论文中的重要性。 本研究通过对翻译类期刊论文英文摘要的体裁分析,较为全面地探究了中、 外学 者摘要写作的异同点及原因,以期能对国内学者、学生、教师的论文写作
7、或 教学提供借鉴意义。 关键词:体裁分析,翻译类期刊论文英文摘要,体裁结构,语言特点 湖 北 工 业 大 学 硕 士 学 位 论 文 Abstract Since the 1970s, with the development of the concept of genre, genre analysis has been widely employed in the field of applied linguistics. However, through investigation, it is observed that few researches exist specificall
8、y on genre analysis of English abstracts in translation journal articles. To analyze their generic structures and linguistic features, four small-scaled corpora have been constructed, which totally covers a number of 200 English abstracts chosen from translation journals, among which 50 are written
9、by native-English authors issued in core international journals, while the rest 150 are written by Chinese writers. Each of the 50 articles is derived from the core and non-core domestic journals and core international journals. Based on Bhatia Introduction-Method-Result-Conclusion (IMRC) model and
10、Swales5 Move-step model, this paper, by adopting both quantitative and qualitative methods, analyzes generic structures and linguistic features of the four corpora, summarizes the similarities and differences of abstracts written respectively by Chinese and native-English writers and attempts to exp
11、lore the reasons for these differences. The findings show that: l)in the macro structure of the abstract, Introduction and Method are indispensable moves. Native English writers prefer to write more completely in moves, while most of the English abstracts written by Chinese scholars lack steps or ov
12、erlap in steps. Morever, foreign scholars pay more attentions to Result move, while domestic scholars Conclusion move. 2) In the micro structure of the abstract, due to “face” problem, Chinese authors are not apt to employ step2-indicating the previous gap in Introduction move. Both domestic and int
13、ernational scholars adopt Method move similarly. Result move is more adopted by foreign authors, indicating their willingness to present their research results. In Conclusion move, step 2-claiming the implications is more employed in domestic journals. 3) In linguistic features of the abstract, both
14、 Chinese and foreign scholars tend to adopt the present tense and the active voice. The first person pronouns are less employed in four corpora. However, compared with Chinese authors, native English writers adopt them more frequently. Through the genre analysis of English abstracts of translation j
15、ournal papers, this paper comprehensively explores the similarities, differences and reasons leading to them. It is expected that this paper can provide references to domestic scholars, teachers and students on paper writing or teaching. Key words: genre analysis, translation journal article English

23、ernet on global science and technology information communications and international academic exchange activities, both domestic and foreign scholars consider the delivery of academic papers as an important way for academic exchanges. English abstract, as the substantial component of thesis, is an ef
24、fective medium to display and spread the authors5 academic research results to other academic peers. It is pivotal for international communication of knowledge, science and technology and the bridge for research results to lead to international academic journals and international academic conference
25、s. However, as many well-known international academic journals are strict with submitted papers, high-qualified papers are crucial, especially the high- qualified abstracts. Despite many books on how to write academic papers exist for reference, most of them merely provide simple guides. They do not
26、 tell how to write academic papers in conformity with the international standards. Currently, the officially domestic academic journals all require authors to attach an English abstract. However, through the investigation, the author finds that the English abstracts of many academic journals in Chin
27、a are simply translated from Chinese abstracts, which results in problems like structural elements deficiency, simplicity and the shortage of voices and tenses and etc. Obviously, a big gap exists with the international mainstream norms. Besides, due to language barrier, though the academic achievem
28、ents of Chinese scholars5 are of great values, they always are in passive positions in international academic exchanges, which has bad effects on their theses retrieval and transmission and communication of their research results. Hence, how to improve the level of English and how to use English to
29、write a perfect international academic abstract have become urgent problems to be solved in the field of international academic exchanges. 30、eld of applied linguistics in western countries. Consequently, more researches are implemented on academic discourses from the perspective of genre analysis both at home and abroad. To further consummate the research content, this paper attempts to adopt this method to analyze 200 paper abstracts is
31、sued in translation journals or related to translation. 1.2 Research Aims and Significance To facilitate the research and reduce the impact of different disciplines, this paper merely choose the paper abstracts related to translation as the object. Purposes of this study are summarized as follows: 1
32、) To explore what the generic structures the abstracts adopt, examine whether the abstracts accord with IMRC model, whether the moves are complete, how each move achieves its communicative functions based on the statistical analysis of the structures of selected English abstracts in four self-built corpora. 2) To make statistical analysis of occurrence frequencies o
