In this paper, I will analyze several legal cases and discuss the relationships between the distance between residential buildings and the amount of sunlight they receive.Relationship Between Distance

4、and SunlightSeveral studies have confirmed that the distance between buildings has a significant effect on the amount of sunlight received by the buildings. A study by Rahman and AbdulHadi (2016) concluded that buildings that are closer than 8 meters apart tend to receive less sunlight because of th

However, buildings that are more than 8 meters apart receive more sunlight, which enhances the productivity and comfort of the building occupants.Additionally, Givoni (2019) argues that the amount and quality of sunlight depend on the orientation of t

6、he buildings fagade. The facade orientation affects the angle at which the sun rays penetrate the building, which affects the temperature inside the building. For instance, buildings that face south and north tend to receive more sunlight than those that face east and west, as they receive direct su

7、nlight throughout the day.Case AnalysisIn recent years, several lawsuits have been filed against architects and developers for failing to provide adequate sunlight access to residential buildings. One notable case is the San Francisco case, where a resident filed a lawsuit for the construction of a

8、building that blocked the sunlight from her apartment. The plaintiff argued that the developer violated the California Solar Shade Control Act, which stipulates that no building should block the sunlight of an existing solar system for more than 3 hours per day.Another case is the New York case, whe
