、人教版 BOOK1 Unit3 Sports and Fitness. Listening and speaking说课The teaching design I will present is taken fromBook 1, Unit 3, Sports and Fitness. Listening and speaking, Invite a friend to a sports event. My presentation comprises the following four parts, analysis, strategies, procedures, and reflecti
、on.Let me start from analysis. Before designing, I refer to a New Standard Curriculum which stresses the cultivation of students core competence and Activity-based approach to English learning. When I dig deeper into the curriculum,I find the theme sports and fitnesslisted in the chart is categorized
、 as an important part of human and society. Based on this and analyze the whole unit, unit 3 is themed on sports and fitness. The big ideas ALL SPORTS FOR ALL PEOPLE guide the whole teaching and learning process. In this unit, students will learn about sports events, sports legends, sports spirits, an
、d sports for wellness. So by the end of this session, students will be able to know sports well, believe in sportsmanship and act upon sports spirits. As is shown, sports events, the topic of my teaching session, is the beginning of the whole unit.Considering its role and function, I analyze the disc
、ourse from the following two aspects, language and ideas. As for language, the context presentsa variety of sports eventsin the form ofposters and listening tasks, through which students will be able to acquire information aboutsports events, express themselves, and make an oral invitation, including
、what to express and how to express. As for ideas, the materials really renew students perception about sports events. Sports events not only bring entertainment, but also enrich peoples lives. The definition of sports events nowadays has been updated via its combination with charity, technology and c
、ulture. Therefore, I also analyze my students prior knowledge and present abilities. My students are from senior one. I believe they can name some regular sports events. They can catch details in listening tasks and make an oral invitation. But they still need to practice to listen for gist, make inf
、erence after listening and explore the cultures behind sports events.Based on this analysis, learning objectives are set in line with core competence. They are language ability, cultural awareness, thinking capacity, and learning ability. So by the end of this session, students will be able tolisten f
、or main ideas, invite friends to a sports event, appreciate diverse cultures across the world, update their perception about sports events and apply what they have learned, especially listening strategies into practice. As for the focal and difficult points, I think the priority should be given tofos
、tering students abilities, and strategists in listening,to be more specific, summarizing the main ideas. And the difficult point might behow to inspire them, to think deep into the cultures behind sports event and how to involve my students in connecting the topic with their real life.To break throug
、h those difficult points and improve their overall comprehension, I will combine Learner-centered approach and a Task-based approach. Learner-based approach puts a lot of emphasis on students learning rather than the teachers lecturing on and on. And a Task-based approach means studentsunderstanding
、 will be achieved through a series of activities, in which a critical thinking and problem-solving will beenhanced. As for my students, I hope they can learn exchange and explore cooperatively. Besides, I want them to raise questions. I want them to be open-minded and view things from different persp
、ectives, thus developing their own understanding about sports events. Now here comes the most important part - teaching procedure. They are pre-listening, while-listening, post-listening activities. In total, there are six tasks for them, to be more specific, active and share, view and learn, listen
、for just, listen for details, think and talk, cooperate and present. In the first step, questions will be asked about their preferences and experiences on sports events , andpictures aboutsports meetings, ancient games in Hangzhou and Olympic gameswill be presented. In this step, I believe my student
、s can name some regular sports events, but I want to get them to express more and get them to sort out a mind map to classify the sports events.By doing so, students prior knowledge about sports events will be activated, and their desire to explore more will be stimulated, which is also the foundati
、on of the post listening project. In the second step, view and learn, posters are presented to help studentsvisualize what they will learn. The questions will be given:What sports events are going to be held?Where will the events be held? By observing posters, students can sort out related information
、, including the names of sports events and the competition values. In this way, students viewing ability will be developed, and I think their ability in extract information will be enhanced. Then how to introduce a sports event and invite others to it? Lets resort to listening materials. Students will
、 listen to the conversations twice. For the first time, they will listen for gist, listen to two conversations and work out the main purpose of the speakers. They are to invite friends to sports events, namely as an e-sports event and a color run.In this way, students listening strategy in summarizin
、g main ideas will be fostered. For the second time, students will listen to conversation two and get details about a color run.In this way, students listening strategy in catching details will be enhanced, and their knowledge about a color run will be reinforced. Then I will guide them to sort out rel
、ated expressions in making an orientation and responding to it, which willpave the way forpost listening project. After listening, students have their own understandings and views about e-sports and color run. Its time for them to think deep and share views. Questions will be given:Why do people cho
、ose to go to an e-sports event or a color run? And why do you choose to go to a certain sports event? They will think about the functions, the meanings of e-sports and color run. Naturally, students have some stereotypes about the functions of sports events. They may think sports events are just for
、 entertainment, for pleasure, for pastime, to kill time, to get together with their family members or friends. But by viewing some diverse sports events across the culture and exchanging different ideas, students ideas, and perception about the meanings and cultures behind the sports events will be
、updated. I hope they can naturally and gradually understand that the functions of sports events go beyond that. Sports event could be for charity, culture, unity, peace, harmony, friendship, technology, cooperation, globalization, sportsmanship, and environmental protection, and so on. By doing so,
、students perception about sports events will be renewed. And in this part, I would like to direct students attention to e-sports and video games, which is really a controversial topic. My students have already known that e-sports enjoys great popularity. It appeared in games in Hangzhou. It will be i
、ncluded as a demonstration sport in 2024 Paris Olympic games. So students will believe that the popularity comes from maybe the video games. But by sharing and discussion, I want them to understand the popularity of e-sports does not come from video games, but from the cooperation, collaboration, te
、amwork, leadership, and expertise shown in those professional players in the competition. By asking this question, why a form of competition using video games will be listed as asports event?Students critical thinking will be enhanced and inspired. After getting sufficient information, students clear
、ly know how to introduce a sports event and make an invitation. In this part, I will present some fantastic activities Xian has organized, like a e-sports event in Qu Jiang e-sport center and a marathon in the city wall. And also, we know that Xian is really making great efforts to create a calling
、card. Under this background, I design a project. It is named“We want you!”A series of sports events will be held to promote Xian. Come and join us to give you ideas to make the activity more entertaining, creative and educational. A poster is needed with a brief introduction. In this project, studen

By doing so, students could apply what they have learned through speaking. And They can cooperate with each other. After preparation, students will present their po

In this step, I will evaluate their performance based on the requirements in the project like: The activity should be entertaining, creative, and educational. I want my students think out of the box to embrace and create mor
、e meaningful and educational sports events. I want to emphasize that your sports event should highlight a purpose like a color run for charity, a relay race for team spirits, a marathon for environmental protection, or a cycling tour for mental and physical health. After sharing and presentation, I
、will help students summarize what they have learned. As for the homework, At the end of the class, homework is clearly presented.Search for more information about sports events you design and polish your poster, call your friends to make an invitation. This will help students enhance and internalize w
、hat they have learned .As for the blackboard design, as select some sports elements, a football,a goal and trucks. The contents are generated step by step, including different types of sports events, competition venues, and the functions and meanings of sports events. It is hoped that students can g
、eneralize what they have learned and visualize what they have learned. It also serves as a checklist for me to evaluate their performance. In conclusion, I think the lesson has a comprehensive analysis of the discourse, and well designed question chains. Most importantly, a series of activities were
、arranged to help studentslisten, think, view, analyse, talk, share, exchange, and learn. However, there are still some unexpected situations in class. It might take longer for them to update their awareness about the social, cultural, and emotional functions of sports events. So I will try my best to e
、ngage my students in the class with great passion, ask more open-ended questions and give them more time to think, discuss and share. Teachers are not to teach, but to make learning happen. Thats what I am striving for. I really appreciate your suggestions and ideas. Thank you for listening. 学科网(北京)股份有限公司
