1、Module 9 Friendshipregret动词,意为“懊悔;遗憾regret (doing) sth.“对某事感到后悔(已经做过的)” regret to do sth. “为要做的事感到抱 歉、遗憾(马上要做)。happen是不及物动词,意思是“发生”,和动词短语take place是同义词。共同特点是:都是不及物动词,没有被动语态形式;都是非延续性动词,不能和表示一段 时间的状语连用。不同点是:happen是表示偶然性的、出乎意料之外的事情发生;take place表示必然性的 发生或者计划、策划好的事情发生。happen to somebody 意为“(某事)发生在某人的身上ha

2、ppen to do something = do something by accident 意为“偶然做某事take place “ 发生 take one s place ”就座,就位 take the place of 代替,取代”whether连词,意为“是否”。当把一般疑问句的直接引语转化成间接引语时,常用if或 whether作引导词。if和whether的辨析:if和whether均可表示“是否,一般情况下二者可以互换。但在下列条件下,只能用 whether而不能用if:(1) if后不能直接接or not。(2) whether可作介词的宾语。(3) whether后可接不定

3、式。(4) whether可用于句首。(5) whether可引导主语从句、表语从句。鼓励encourage作动词,意为“鼓励。encourage sb. to do sth.意为“鼓励某人做某事”。encouragement是encourage的名词形式,意为“鼓舞/鼓励”。encourage词形变化及短语用法:encourage (v.)鼓励 常用短语encourage sb to do sth 鼓励某人去做某事encourage sb in sth在某事上鼓励某人courage (n.)勇气常用短语have the courage to do sth有勇气去做某事包括include 作动

4、词,意为“包括;包含”。including除了是include的现在分词/动名词之外,在日常运用中一般被当作介词使用,和 其后的名词/代词一起形成介宾短语,意思是“包括在内”。day by day意为“一天天地”,逐日,表示事情的逐渐变化过程。该短语只能作状语。day after day意为“日复一日、一天又一天 表示一个重复(周而复始或循环重复)的动作 或事件。该短语可作主语和状语。silence n.寂静;无声 in silence.安静地 silence 的形容词形式是 silent。ke叩 silent=keep in silence,意为“保持沉默advice 和 suggestio

5、n 的辨析advice 不可数名词,a piece of advice 一条建议 give advice 提建议 take/follow one s advice接受某人的建议ask for one s advice征求某人的建议advise 和 suggest 的辨析advise v.建议,常用于 advise sb. to do sth结构suggest v.建议, suggest sb.doing sth.(1) suggest+that宾语从句”,此时从句要用虚拟语气,即“should+动词原形,should 可以省略。但suggest作“表明”讲时,不用虚拟语气。(2) sugges

6、t doing sth.建议做某事(3)建议某人做某事。常用 suggest sb. doing二advise sb.to do害怕 be afraid(1) be afraid表示“害怕做某事”或“不敢做某事,be afraid之后可接不定式,也可接 名词、代词或of doing sth.o(2)要表示担心可能会发生某事,则只能用be afraid of doing而不能用be afraid to doo 例如:(3) be afraid 后可接 that 从句。(4) Fm afraid so.恐怕如此。Pm afraid not.恐怕不行。whether/if及疑问词引导的宾语从句1 .

7、whether/if引导的宾语从句。(1)whether/if引导宾语从句时,意为“是否”,表示不确定的概念,常位于ask, see, say, know, find out等词或短语后面。一般情况下,两者可互换,在口语中多用ifo(2)whether 和 if 的区别。在动词不定式之前只能用whethero在固定结构“whetheror not”中,只能用whethero 在介词后只能用whethero2 .疑问词引导的宾语从句。(1)由特殊疑问句充当宾语从句时,该从句由特殊疑问词引导,此从句要用陈述句的语序。(2)当宾语从句由连接副词或代词when, where, who, why, wh

21、h.意为“就某事采访某人”。seem常作系动词,意为“看来;似乎”,其常见结构如下:Lseem+形容词/名词,意为“似乎2.seem+to do sth.,意为“好像要做某事”。3.It seems/seemed+that从句,意为“看起来似乎4.seem like意为“似乎是;看起来像珠purpose作名词,意为“目的;意图”,后可接介词in,也可跟介词of。当purpose前是物主 代词时,后用介词in;当purpose前是定冠词the时,后面用介词of。purpose后不跟介词 foro with the puipose of 目的是;为了 on purpose 故意地need to d

22、o sth 和 need doing sth(1) need to do sth意为“需要去做某事”。主语为人,表示主动意义。(2) need doing sth意为“某事需要被做工主语为物,用主动形式表示被动意义,相 当于 need to be done。need也可用作情态动词,后跟动词原形,need无人称和数的变化。通常只用于否定句或 疑问句以及条件句、whether, hardly, nobody等连用。注意:因need不能用于肯定句,因 此肯定回答要用mustoneed作实义动词常见搭配:(l)need sb./sth.需要某人/某物(2)need to do sth.需要做某事(3

23、)need doing sth.需要被做(表示被动)(4)need to be done需要被做need作情态动词无时态和人称的变化,后接动词原形。当句子的主语是“人”时,need后接to do sth.;当句子的主语是“物”时,need后接doing sth. 或 to be doneomean作及物动词,“打算,意味着”,后接名词,动词不定式短语或从句。mean的名词形式 是“meaning”,表示意思、涵义”。What do / did you mean by.?该句型的意思是“你是什么意思?”surprised 与 surprising 用法:surprised惊奇的,吃惊的;表示“感

24、到某种情绪”,其主语指人。surprising惊奇的,吃惊的;表示“存在的状态”,其主语指物。surprised作形容词,意为“令人惊讶的”,常修饰人。(l)be surprised at sth.对某事感到吃惊(2)be surprised to do sth.对做某事感到吃惊(3)besurprised+that从句 对感到吃惊to ones surprise使人惊奇的是一、宾语从句的时态1 .当主句的谓语动词是一般现在时时,其宾语从句的时态应根据实际情况而定。2 .当主句的谓语动词是一般过去时时,其宾语从句的时态一般使用相应的过去时态。注意:当宾语从句表示客观真理、自然现象、科学原理时,
