3、 he always took thetime to listen to me.It was a wonderful connection.There werent any kids of my age in theneighborhood,and my parents were very busy,so Imostly played in the yard with my dog.I had a lot ofimaginary friends-a whole family,actually,with awife,children,a best friend no joke.Weird kid
4、.One day,my parents asked Bill whether hed watchme while they were away on business.This workedwell for everyone,so it became a somewhat monthlyoccurrence.Bill had a spare room in his house,whichbecame“my”room.Bill promised to teach me to drive the lawn tractor（害!草 机）someday and I was always looking
5、 forwardto it.In winter,Bill would attach a snowplow（铲 雪 机）to the front of the lawn tractor.I seriously told him thatI would invent a better snowplow when I grew up.“Sure you will.Youll get a patent certificate.It takesa certificate to prove an important thing,Bill said witha smile.One snowy morning

8、s lawn tractor tomorrow.This messagecheered me up a bit.The next morning,while learning to drive the lawntractor with a snowplow,I accidentally plowed downour chain-link fence.As I jumped off the tractor andchecked it,it suddenly dawned on me that maybeI could“adopt”Bill in a new way.You dont need t
9、omake the hole bigger/5 I said.Without the fence,wecan actually live together as one true family,and youwill never feel lonely again/5 So moved was Bill thathe wrapped me into his arms tightly,tears shiningin his eyes.With the help of my parents,we clearedup all the fence.That was a day carved in mymemory,as I finally“adopted Bill as my grandpa,though without a certificate.
