2、在 其 应 用 上 来。我 们 不 妨 把 它 分 为 两 大 类：专 有 名 词 与 普 通 名 词。顾 名 思 义，专 有 名 词 是 指：个 人、事 物、机 关 等 所 专 有 的 名 称，如，the Great Wall,America它 们 是 不 能 随 意 变 动 的。而 普 通 名 词 中 则 包 括 个 体 名 词，如 pen,worker它 表 示 单 一 的 个 体 人 或 事 物；集 体 名 词，如：family,class,team,它 表 示 的 是 由 若 干 个 个 体 组 成 的 集 合 体；物 质 名 词，如：water,paper它 表 示 的 是 一 种
3、 物 质，原 材 料；而 后 一 种 是 抽 象 名 词，如:work,time它 表 示 着 一 种 在 实 际 生 活 中 看 不 见、摸 不 到，但 却 与 实 际 生 活 紧 密 相 关 的 某 些 动 作、状 态、品 质 的 抽 象 概 念。见 下 表。名 词 一 览 表 种 类 专 有 名 词 London,John,the Communist Party of China普 通 名 词 类 名 词 nurse,boy,worker,pencil,dog,table集 体 名 词 class,family,army,police,team,people物 质 名 词 water,s
4、teel,glass,cotton,wood,sand抽 象 名 词 happiness,love,work,life,courage,honest功 用 主 语 My family is now in New York.表 语 His father is a scientist.宾 语 We love our great motherland.宾 语 补 足 语 He made London the base for his work.定 语 The girls are making paper flowesrs.状 语 The car cost him 1000 dollars.同 位 语
5、 Mr Brown,a famous scientist,will come here.名 词 在 使 用 中 的 难 点 在 于 名 词 的 数，即 可 数 名 词 与 不 可 数 名 词 的 实 际 应 用。不 可 数 名 词 不 能 用 数 字 计 算，所 以 它 通 常 只 有 单 数 形 式。它 包 含 有 专 有 名 词、物 质 名 词、抽 象 名 词 等，如：English,air,water,cotton,work可 数 名 词 是 可 以 用 数 量 加 以 计 算 的 名 词，所 以 它 具 有 单 数 形 式 和 复 数 形 式 两 种。可 数 名 词 复 数 形 式 的
6、 构 成 规 律 是：1.-一 般 情 况 力 口 s,如：pen pens,doctordoctors,boyboys,其 读 音 规 贝 U 是 在 清 辅 音 后 读 s,在 元 音 和 浊 辅 音 后 读 z。如:mapmap,boy一 boys.2.在 以 s,sh,ch,x结 尾 的 名 词 后 面 加 e s,如：bus一 buses,class一 classes淇 读 音 为 iz。3.以 ce,se,ze,(d)ge结 尾 的 名 词 加 s,其 读 音 为 iz。4.以 辅 音 字 母 加 y 结 尾 的 名 词，要 将 y 变 为 i 再 加 e s,读 作 z,如：fa
7、ctoryfactories,country一 countries,familyfamilies.但 要 注 意 的 是 以 元 音 字 母 加 y 结 尾 的 名 词 的 复 数 形 式 只 加 s,如:boyboys,day一 dayso5.以 o结 尾 的 名 词 的 复 数 形 式 一 般 要 加 es,但 如 果 o前 面 是 元 音 字 母 或 外 来 词，缩 写 词 以 o 结 尾 的 则 只 加 s,如：tomatotomatoes,hero-heroes;photo一 photos,radio一 radios,piano一 pianos6.以 f或 fe结 尾 的 金 词 的
8、 复 数 形 式 要 将 f或 fe变 为 v再 加 e s,如:knifeknives,leafleaves,但 有 些 例 外 的 词 如 roof的 复 数 形 式 是 roofs。7.不 规 则 名 词 的 复 数 形 式 是 要 单 个 记 忆 的，它 没 有 规 律 可 循，如:man一 men,woman-women,child-children,foot-feet,tooth一 teeth,mouse一 mice8.单 复 同 形 的 名 词 有：fish,sheep,deer9.单 数 形 式 但 其 意 为 复 数 的 名 词 有:people,police等。名 词 还
9、有 格 的 变 化，其 主 格 可 作 主 语，宾 格 可 作 宾 语。还 有 所 有 格，用 来 表 示 人 或 物 的 所 有，以 及 领 属 关 系。表 示 有 生 命 的 名 词 的 所 有 格 其 单 数 形 式 是 加 s 其 复 数 形 式 是 如 其 结 尾 不 是 s 的 复 数 形 式 仍 加 s,如：a students room,students rooms,Childrens Day.在 表 示 时 间、距 离、世 界、国 家 名 词 的 所 有 格 要 用 s,如：a twenty minuteswalk.但 无 生 命 名 词 的 所 有 格 则 必 须 用 o
10、f结 构，/in：the capital of our country,thecolour of the flowers(-)正 误 辨 析 误 Please give me a paper.正 Please give me a piece of paper.析 不 要 认 为 可 以 数 的 名 词 就 是 可 数 名 词，这 种 原 因 是 对 英 语 中 可 数 与 不 可数 名 词 的 概 念 与 中 文 中 的 能 数 与 不 能 数 相 混 淆 了，所 以 造 成 了 这 样 的 错 误，因 paper在 英 语 中 是 属 于 物 质 名 词 一 类，是 不 可 数 名 词。而
11、不 可 数 名 词 要 表 达 数 量 时，耍 用 与 之 相 关 的 量 词 来 表 达，$0：two pieces of paper.误 Please give me two letter papers.正 Please give me two pieces of letter paper.析 paper作 为 纸 讲 是 不 可 数 名 词，而 作 为 报 纸、考 卷、文 章 讲 时 则 是 可 数 名 词,如：Each student should write a paper on what he has learnt.误 My glasses is broken.正 My glass
12、es are broken.误 I want to buy two shoes.正 I want to buy two pairs of shoes.析 英 语 中 glasses一 眼 镜，shoes鞋，trousers一 裤 子 等 由 两 部 分 组 成 的 名 词 一 般 要 用 复 数 形 式。如 果 要 表 示 一 副 眼 镜 应 用 a pair of glasses而 这 时 的 谓 语 动 词 应 与 量 词 相 一 致。如:This pair of glasses is very good.误 May I borrow two radioes?正 May I borrow
13、two radios?析 以。结 尾 的 名 词 大 都 是 用 加 e s来 表 示 其 复 数 形 式，但 如 果。前 面 是 一 个 元 音 字 母 或 外 来 语 时 则 只 加 s 就 可 以 了。这 样 的 词 有 zoozoos,pianopianos.误 This is a Marys dictionary.正 This is Marys dictionary.析 如 名 词 前 有 指 示 代 词 this,that,these those,及 其 他 修 饰 词 our,some,every,w hich,或 所 有 格 时，则 不 要 再 加 冠 词。误 There ar
14、e much people in the garden.正 There are many people in the garden.析 可 数 名 词 前 应 用 many,few,a few,a lot o f来 修 饰，而 people是 可 数 名 词，而 且 是 复 数 名 词，如：The people are planting trees here.误 I want a few water.正 I want a little water.析 不 可 数 名 词 前 可 以 用 a little,little,a lot of,som e来 修 饰，但 不 可 用 many,few来

16、ting for me.析 集 合 名 词 如 果 指 某 个 集 合 的 整 体，则 应 视 为 单 数，如 指 某 个 集 合 体 中 的 个 体 则 应 视 为 复 数。如:My family is a big family.When I came in,Toms familywere watching T V.即 汤 姆 一 家 人 正 在 看 电 视。这 样 的 集 合 名 词 有：family class,team 等。误 LIE 误 正 Dont eat too much meats.Don*t eat too much meat.Food in that restaurant
17、is very good.The food in that restaurant is very good.析 物 质 名 词 是 不 可 数 名 词，在 使 用 中 不 可 以 加 s,即 它 没 有 复 数 形 式。也 不 可 加 不 定 冠 词。但 如 果 用 于 特 指 某,物 质 时 可 以 加 定 冠 词。如：I don*t likedrinking coffee,but the coffee in that cup is really good.误 Please give me two waters.正 Please give me two glasses of water.正
18、Please give me two coffees.析 物 质 名 词 如 要 加 计 量 时，一 定 要 加 量 词，如：two cups of tea,two glassesof water,a glass of milk,a loaf of bread,a piece of bread,a box of sugar,a bowl of rice,a bottle of orange,a bag of earth例：Fil tell you a piece of good news.但 只 有 coffee 可 以 用 coffees 来 取 代 many cups of coffee.
19、误 Can you give me the newspaper of today?正 Can you give me todays newspaper?析 加 Ts法 成 所 有 格 的 名 词 一 般 应 指 有 生 命 的 人 或 物。如：Mar/s h a ir,但 在 英 文 的 习 惯 用 法 中 对 时 间、距 离 等 名 词 的 所 有 格 多 用 s来 构 成 而 不 用 o f结 构。如：a five minutes*walk.误 Please make a room for the lady in the school bus.LIE Please make room fo
20、r the lady in the school bus.析 英 语 中 更 多 的 名 词 是 含 有 多 种 用 法 和 多 种 含 意 的，如：room为 可 数 名 词 时 为“房 间，如：I live in Room 5.而 room为 抽 象 名 词 时 为 空 间 上 面 一 句 话 应 译 为“请 给 老 妇 人 在 校 车 上 留 个 地 方 这 样 的 词 还 有：g lass玻 璃 glasses眼 镜 stone石 头 a stone 一 块 石 头 tim e时 间 two tim es两 次 w ood木 头 w oods树 林 误 There is a flowe
21、rs garden behind my house.LIE There is a flower garden behind my house.析 名 词 除 了 在 句 中 作 主 语、宾 语、表 语 外，还 可 以 用 来 修 饰 另 一 个 名 词，这 时 作 修 饰 词 的 名 词 般 要 用 单 数 形 式，如：shoe factory（鞋 厂）,post office（邮 局）,evening paper（晚 报）,night school（夜 校）,head master（校 长）,a law school（法 律 学 院）。但 也 有 例 外，如:a goods train（货
22、车）,sports meeting（运 动 会）。误 My mother bought two fishes for supper this morning.正 My mother bought two fish for supper this morning.析 英 语 中 有 些 名 词 单 复 同 形，如：fish,deer,sheep,Chinese IS A）,means（方 法）。所 以 应 讲 one fish,two fish,one Chinese,two Chinese.如 果 讲 There arefive fishes in the pool.应 译 为 池 中 有 五
23、 种 鱼 而 不 是 五 条 鱼。误 Mary expressed her thank to her boy friend.正 Mary expressed her thanks to her boy friend.析 英 语 中 有 些 名 词 只 有 复 数 形 式，如：thanks,g r e e n s,而 有 些 词 单 数 形 式 与 复 数 形 式 有 不 同 的 词 意。如:clothes为 衣 服，而 cloth则 是 布，sand沙 子，而 sands是 沙 滩。误 I offered my son my congratulation on his success.正 I
24、offered my son my congratulations on his success.析 英 语 中 表 示 祝 贺 的 词 虽 有 单 数 形 式，但 一 般 要 用 其 复 数 形 式。如 握 手 为 shake hands.误 We have five German in this meeting.正 We have five Germans in this meeting.析 英 国 人 Englishman的 复 数 形 式 为 Englishmen,而 German则 要 加 s,因 为 它 不 是 由 国 名 与 m an的 组 合 词。误 There are two
25、 As in this word.正 There are two As in this word.析 在 大 写 字 母 缩 写 形 式 的 复 数 表 达 法 中 应 加 s,但 如 字 母 是 A、I 时，为 了 防 止 与 A s和 Is相 混,则 要 用 即 A，s,Ps 误 There are three 6s and two 3s in my telephone number.正 There are three 6s and two 3s in my telephone number.析 在 小 写 字 母 与 数 字 的 复 数 形 式 表 达 法 中 要 用 s 误 We ha
26、ve many woman teachers in our school.正 We have many women teachers in our school.析 一 般 组 合 名 词 变 为 复 数 形 式 时 只 将 词 中 心 词 变 为 复 数 如：half brother一 half brothers（同 父 异 母 或 同 母 异 父 的 兄 弟）daughter in law一 daughtersin law,（儿 媳）但 要 注 意 的 是：man drivermen drivers（男 司 机）womandoctor-women doctors（女 大 夫）grown u
27、p一 grown ups（成 年 人）但 是 boy student一 则 变 为 boy students 误 Physics are very difficult to learn.正 Physics is very difficult to learn.析 虽 以 s 结 尾 但 只 能 用 作 单 数 名 词 有：科 学，学 科 名 字：Physics.Mathematicspolitics游 戏 名 称：bow ls专 有 名 称：Niagara Falls（尼 亚 加 拉 濠 布）其 他 名 词：news（消 息,新 闻）误 There is a people in the roo
28、m.LIE There is a person in the room.正 There is a man in the room.析 people是 复 数 名 词，不 可 用 作 单 数，如 要 用 来 讲 一 个 人 时 应 用 a person,aman,a womano 同 样 的 词 有 police.要 讲 一 个 警 察 时 则 要 用 a policeman,apolicewoman。误 Where is my shoe?正 Where are my shoes?析 常 常 只 用 作 复 数 形 式 的 词 有 trousers,pants,shorts（短 裤）,socks
29、（袜 子）,shoes,gloves（手 套）。但 如 果 只 找 其 中 的 一 个 则 要 指 明，这 时 还 是 应 用 单 数 形 式。如：Wheres my left glove?（我 左 手 的 手 套 在 哪?）误 I paid five pennies for the sweet.正 I paid five pence for the sweet.析 英 语 中 便 i 有 两 个 复 数 形 式 pence用 来 表 达 一 定 数 量 的 钱。而 pennies是 指 一 个 个 的 硬 币，如：I want to change this note for pennies.

31、果 是 单 数 名 词 则 加 s如：Mary*car,如 果 是 以 s结 尾 的 复 数 名 词 则 只 在 s 后 面 加 如：teachers，offices.如 果 是 复 数 名 词 但 不 是 以 s 结 尾，则 只 加 s,如：children palace组 合 名 词 的 所 有 格 是 在 最 后 一 个 词 尾 力 s 如：girl friend 一 girl friends someone else-someone elses a week or three一 a week or threers如 名 词 后 有 同 位 语 时，则 应 加 在 同 位 语 的 词 尾
32、 上，如：It is mygirl friend,Marys car.要 注 意 的 是 当 两 个 名 词 并 列 时，如 表 示 归 两 人 共 同 所 有，则 在 最 后 一 个 名 词 后 而 加 I,如 果 表 示 分 别 所 有 则 在 两 个 名 词 后 分 别 加 s,如：This is Mary and Jones home.M P Mary与 Jone是 一 家 人。这 是 他 们 共 同 的 家。而 These are Mary*s and Jones homes.则 应 译 为 这 里 是 Mary 的 家 与 Jone 的 家。误 It is really beaut
33、iful.It is a work of nature.LiE It is really beautiful.It is a Natures work.析 无 生 命?词 的 所 有 格 应 用。f 结 构。但 是 1 形 式 的 所 有 格 可 用 于 以 下 无 生 命 的 名 词：表 示 时 间 的 词：todays newspaper,a twenty minutes1 walk,an hours,rest 表 示 长 度 的 词：three metres*distance,a boats length,twenty miles*journey表 示 重 量 的 名 词：two pou
34、nds*weight价 格 名 词：two dollarsworth拟 人 化 的 名 词：Natures work,natures lesson（大 自 然 的 教 训）及 国 家、机 关、团 体、城 市 等 机 构 性 名 词：the universitys library 误 He is an old friend of my father.正 He is an old friend of my fathers.析 这 是 英 语 中 的 一 种 习 惯 用 法 而 不 要 根 据 语 法 去 推 理。如：This pen is Tom&误 My father is a good coo
35、ker.正 My father is a good cook.析 一 般 动 词 加 上 e r后 则 转 意 为 执 行 该 动 作 的 执 行 者，如:teach（教）一 teacher（老 师）,think（想）一 thinker（思 想 家）,drive（开 车）一 driver（司 机）,sell（卖）一 seller（实 物 者）但 不 能 总 是 以 此 类 推，比 如 cook是 动 词“做 饭”。而 cook也 可 作 为 名 词“厨 师”讲，而 cooker则 为 厨 具，餐 具，即 锅、碗、勺 等 做 饭 用 具。误 The young is dancing there.
36、正 The young are dancing there.析 英 文 中 用 定 冠 词 加 上 形 容 词 表 示 一 类 人 时 应 按 复 数 名 词，如：the ric h富 人，thepoor（穷 人）,th ew ise聪 明 人，但 如 果 用 定 冠 词 加 形 容 词 来 表 示 事 物 则 要 用 作 单 薪 名 词，如：The beautiful is still here.美 丽 的 风 景 依 旧。误 The stories of the book was written many years ago.正 The stories of the book were w

38、 王 叔 叔 却 doctors意 为“医 院 或 私 人 诊 所 误 I think we will make a friend with each other.正 I think we will make friends with each other.析 make friends为 习 惯 用 法，即 交 朋 友。误 I want to tell you much pieces of good news.正 I want to tell you many pieces of good news.析 news为 不 可 数 名 词，但 加 了 量 词 之 后 则 要 用 many来 修 饰
39、 量 词，因 量 词 是 可 数 名 词，或 可 以 说 I want to tell you some good news.因 so m e即 可 用 在 可 数 名 词 前，也 可 用 在 不 可 数 名 词 前 作 形 容 词，如：I want to tell you some pieces ofgood news.误 The teacher with five students are coming here.LIE The teacher with five students is coming here.析 要 注 意 由 w ith引 出 的 介 词 短 语 不 是 本 句 的
40、主 语，这 与 连 词 and有 很 大 的 区 别，如：The teacher and five students are coming h ere.这 里 由 介 词 引 出 的 短 语 仅 仅 是 teacher的 修 饰 语。误 There are a lot of information here,but we don*t need them.正 There is a lot of information here,but we dont need it.析 information为 不 可 数 名 词，而 用 作 代 替 它 的 词 耍 用 i t而 不 能 用 them.误 Ma
41、ny a student make the same mistake in the exam.正 Many a student makes the same mistake in the exam.析 many a 加 可 数 名 词 单 数，作 主 语 时 其 谓 语 动 词 应 用 单 数 形 式，但 其 意 为 许 多 学 生。误 The children wear very good cloth to go to school today.正 The children wear very good clothes to go to school today.析 英 文 中 cloth,
42、clothes,clothing是 易 混 之 词：cloth是 物 质 名 词，意 为“布”,没 有 复 数 形 式，而 clothing是 指 衣 物 的 总 称，也 没 有 复 数 形 式。clothes是 指 衣 服，但 没 有 单 数 形 式，如：This clothing is needed in warm countries.Her clothes aremade of fine cloth.英 文 中 的 dress则 指 较 正 规 的 服 装，如：a school d ress校 服，an evening dress 晚 礼 服。误 I like to study the
43、English.LiE I like to study English.析 作 为 一 种 学 科 名 词 前 不 要 用 冠 词，而 作 为 某 一 特 指 学 科 则 要 加 冠 词，如：I like to study history.I like to study the history of America.误 The Browns is going to visit China.LIE The Browns are going to visit China.析 定 冠 词 加 姓 加 s,则 意 为“Brown先 生 一 家 人”。所 以 应 用 复 数 谓 语 动 词。此 句 应
44、译 为：Brown先 生 一 家 将 要 访 问 中 国。（三）例 题 解 析 1.Lucy and Lily in the same class.A.am B.is C.are D.be 答 案 C.析 由 and连 接 两 个 单 数 名 词 作 主 语 时 应 按 复 数 名 词 来 搭 配 谓 语 动 词。2.Which is the to the bus stop,please?A road B way C street D address 答 案 B.析 这 是 考 察 同 意 词 辨 析，ro a d是 指 较 宽 阔 的 大 道，意 为“乡 间 公 路”，而 street意 为
45、 道 路 两 边 的 建 筑 物 较 高，可 视 为 街 道 之 意，而 w ay则 多 为 要 到 达 某 地 所 要 经 过 的 途 径，还 可 引 深 为 方 式、方 法。而 address则 为“地 址”。如：Thereis a car running along the country road.I live at 105 Park street.Can you showme the way to the National Museum?3.Hurry up!There i s time left.A little B a little C few D a few 答 案 A,析 因
46、 tim e作 为 时 间 讲 为 不 可 数 名 词，所 以 不 可 用 few,a few来 修 饰。另 外，英 文 的 表 达 法 与 中 文 不 同，中 文 讲，快 点，时 间 不 多 了，而 英 文 要 讲，快 点，没 时 间 了。因 此，要 用 little而 不 用 a little.4.How many can you see in the picture?A tomatos B tomatoes C tomato D the tomato 答 案 B.析 用 How many提 问 时，其 名 词 要 用 复 数 形 式，而 tomato的 复 数 要 加 I es.5.一
