25、ting to systematically look for these words.As Lomas explains on his blog,“I often wonder,fbr instance,if a word describing acertain phenomenon(现 象)has only been coined in one particular culture,does thatmean that only people in that culture experience that phenomenon?Can it really betrue that only

26、German people have feelings of schadenfreude,that sense of excitementat another persons misfortune?”He finds,however,that people do have feelings that they dont have words for.It?s justthat without specific words,the feelings become more difficult to express.He9s alsoobserved that many languages bor

27、row words from other languages to express feelingsthey dont have a word for themselves.Lomas started the project by combing through websites,blogs,books,and academicpapers and began his list with 216 words.But he knew there were a lot more outthere.That is why he created his own website to allow peo
