19、 话)line,andthen the staff assembled the units.Trucks picked up daily that daysproduction for delivery.It was very efficient,and made a lot ofmoney.Just when it seemed the sky was the limit,and sales hadtopped$3 million,the manager that Dell had hired quit.But,as Dellalways told himself,Every time yo

20、u have a crisis,something goodcomes out of it.From necessity,he learned accounting that wouldprove very helpful in the years ahead.Its a lot easier to learnsomething if its important to you,he says.Unlike other manufacturers,Dell gave his customers money-backguarantees.He also realized that when a c

21、omputer breaks down,the customer wants it working right away.So Dell guaranteed anext-day on site service for his products,and introduced a24-hour-a-day line for customers to talk directly with computerexperts.Ninety percent of computer technical problems,accordingto Dell,can be solved over the phon

22、e.Constant telephone contact with customers kept the company closeto the market.Customers let Dell Computer know directly what theyliked or didnt like about a particular model.My competitors weredeveloping products and then telling customers what they shouldwant,instead of finding out what the marke

23、t really wanted and thendeveloping products,Dell says.By the day Michael Dell would havegraduated from college,his company was selling$70 million worthof computers a year.Successful careerToday Dell Computer has wholly owned subsidiaries(分 公 司)in 16countries,including Japan.The company has capital o
