Its my great honor and pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you.Id like to begin this representation with six parts .Analysis of the teaching material, analysis

2、 of the students, the teaching methods, the studying methods, the teaching procedure and the teaching reflections.PartiAnalysis of the teaching materialThe content of my lesson is Go for it Grade 9 Unitl How can we become good learners? Section B Reading How can you become a successful learner? The

3、text mainly talks about some different kinds of habits of becoming a successful learner. The grammar point is formal subject. By reading the article, students can effectively comprehend the use of formal subject. The learning strategy of this lesson is using the dictionary, hoping that at the end of

4、 the lesson, students can form an infiltrated knowledge of the strategy, and in the future study they can consciously use the dictionary to find the definition that matches the context of word in the text.Teaching AimsAccording to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus, and after studying the

5、teaching material, I think the teaching aims are the followings:At the end of this lesson, students are able to learn how to learn and find right ways of learning English around good learner*, comprehend the effect of this article and to equip students with knowledge of the language and arouse the a

6、wareness of developing good learning habits and study skills to learn wisely and efficiently.At the end of this lesson, students are able to master reading strategyusingdictionaries to find the definition that matches the context of the word and use reading skills of skimming and scanning to finish

7、reading by finishing these tasks.The Important and Difficult Points.Based on the requirement of the syllabus:The most important point of this lesson is about grasping the main ideas of reading, understanding differenl kinds of learning habits.The most difficult point of this lesson is about finding

8、out the structure of the passage and communicating and discussing with partners about the topic ”good leaner”.Part2 Analysis of the studentsThe students are junior students of Grade 9.They have a certain ability of English. Some students are not active and confident in class, some students have trou

9、ble reading, and they are poor in reading strategics, so ril have students study in a relaxed atmosphere.After learning the previous content of this unit, students should have some knowledge reserve of learning English. However, in this lesson, students need to make use of what they have read and co

10、mbing with their own learning situation to reflect on whether they have the learning habits and methods that excellent learners should have. Students learn or can consciously choose effective learning methods based on their own realities to achieve academic success.Part3 Teaching MethodsAs we know,

11、a good teaching method requires that the teacher should help students develop good sense of the English language. For achieving these teaching aims and after the analysis of the teaching material and teaching aims, I will use the following methods according to the modern social communication teachin

12、g theories. Interactive Approach Task-based Language Teaching Discussion leaching Self-dependent learning cooperative learning.Part4 Studying MethodsAccording to the situation of the students and teaching aims. TH teach Ss how to be successful language learners by these ways:Let students get the kno

13、wledge actively by skimming , scanning and detailed reading.Let the Ss find out the structure of the passage.Part5 Teaching ProcedureStepl Lead-in1. Greet studentsWarm-upLead in the topic by holding a class meeting about how to become a successful learner.Show students a video about a girPs habit of

14、 learning English.Purpose of my design:Lcad in the topic and catch Ss attention about the topic.It is a connecting link between the preceding and the following.It is a link between the textbook and Ss daily school life.Step II Pre-readingTaskl: Ask students some easy questionsQI: Who is the best Chi

15、nese learner in our class?Q2: Who is the best math learner in our class?Q3: Who is the best English learner in our class?Purpose of my design:(1) It is close to students, life, so it can make them interested in the next studying.(2) Let Ss have the desire to read furtherTask2: Ask students to think

16、and discuss what is good learning habits, then list some good learning habits.Purpose of my design:To provide the necessary background knowledge.lt is a preparing fbr Ss output.Task3. Let students look at the picture and title to predict what this passage is talking about.Purpose of my design:To sti

17、mulate students* interest in reading.Step HI While-readingTask 1 Skimming:Ask Ss to read quickly and divide the whole passage into 3 parts, then fond out the true structure of the passage.Ask Ss to look through the passage to find out the main ideas by reading the subtitles.Purpose of my design: lea

18、d students to know skimming is useful for them to find out the main idea of a passage.Task2 ScanningRead the second paragraph and fill in the chartDetailed reading: Read the third paragraph and answer the questionsDetailed reading: Read the fourth paragraph and answer the questionsDetailed reading:

19、Read the fifth paragraph and answer the questions Detailed reading: Read the fifth paragraph and answer the question. Read the passage again and fill in the blanks.Purpose of my design:(1) Lead students to know the strategy of scanning, let them learn to scan the useful information they need(2) Let

20、students learn about something important about good learning habits.(3) Enable students to understand the given material better by using different reading skills.(4) To make students get language information, and master reading recipes in the process of readingStep IV post-readingTask 1.Lead student

21、s to retell the passage by the mind map with the teacher step by step.Task2. Ask students to look up the following words of the context in the dictionary.Then make a sentence for each word.Purpose of my design:Cultivate the ability of using dictionary.Task3 Discuss and share the useful learning habi

22、ts with class.Purpose of my design:Develop the students ability of speaking and show their opinion. Its the Output of their knowledge. I think if the Ss can finish this task well, they will benefit a lot in their spoken English.Step V HomeworkHomework: Do some review and write a short passage about

23、how can you become a successful learner!Purpose of my design:Reviewing is a good way to represent the key knowledge content of the text, let the students consolidate the internalization.Part 6 Teaching ReflectionsIn my opinion, it is successful. My reasons are as follows:Firstly, the teaching aims w

24、ere quite clear. The structure of this lesson is complete. All the activities were focused on the theme reading strategies and were developed to reach the teaching goalEnable the students to master the ways of skimmingand scanning.”Secondly, in this lesson I designed different activities to arouse t

25、he students5 interests of learning English. Such as: skimming, scanning, detailed reading and discussion. The students were eager to speak and use English in class.Well, we will say: no class is perfect. Yes. I think, as a teacher, we should pay more attention to the students who are not good at English. We should encourage them more. Give them more chances to speak and use English. I think, with more encouragement, they are sure to make greater progress in the future.Above is my representation of this lesson. Thank you!
