9、in their hearts.The use of knowledge is Power,this is the essence to learning.Knowledge without action is just that-knowledge,it is just like money under the mattress,waiting for you to put it to use.We might have read many books,listened to recordings,attended many seminars,we do have more knowledg
10、e on how to be and do better,but yet we produce results at a level way below our potential.This is because much of the knowledge we have learned just stays in our mind till we make a conscious effort and put our knowledge into action.Just the awareness of the power of action is not enough,for you to
11、 put knowledge to action you must decide what you want to change.The power to change any areas of your life will be in the application of the knowledge you have in you.It is not a question of how much you know,but what use you make of what you know.Not a question of what you have acquired and how yo

13、床垫而没有去应用我们可能阅读过许多书本听过录带,参加过不少研讨会,丰富的知识告诉们怎样做得更好。但是,业绩只在一般水平,未达理想,这是因为许多丰富的知识所学习到的都停留在我们的脑袋里而没有尽力的把所学到的知识化为行动去发挥。了解知识化为行动是不够的,你还要决定把灌输的知识化为行动去改变些什么。这股力量去改变你的人将取决于你所拥有的知识,不在于你懂得多少,而是你能实践多少你所懂得。不在乎你拥有多少和所接受的训练,而是你本质和能力。A SIMPLER LIFE Become a Specialist Many clients come to me wanting to learn how to m
14、anage their time more effectively.The vast“mountain”of tasks they are trying to accomplish each day is overwhelming.Some are angry.Some are extremely stressed.Some are simply incapacitated by the daunting challenge.All of them ask the same question:”How can I manage all of this”I would like to sugge
15、st a different perspective.Instead of trying to think of“how”to manage it,try thinking first of“what”it is youre trying to manage.Move from being a generalist to becoming a specialist.The first step is to take inventory of what you are trying to accomplish each day.Start by asking yourself these que
16、stions:-What do I really want to do We often think,“If I dont do this,it wont get done.”That motivation comes from a sense of obligation and guilt rather than desire.This can(and often does)lead to feelings of resentment.Learn to say“no”to things you dont really want to do.Specialists have a real pa
17、ssion for what they do.-What am I expecting of myself You get only 24 hours each day like everyone else.Give yourself a break!Look at what youre try to fit in to each day.Is it reasonable Specialists have a keen sense of what they can accomplish and the time it takes to accomplish it.They dont“overb
18、ook”their schedule.-What do I do best If you cant cook very well,stop trying to be the chef.Youll just get“burned”and no one will like what you“cook”anyway.Specialists are talented in a narrow field.By limiting yourself to doing what you do really well,youll get even better at it.-What will I delega
19、te Managers are often guilty of having their“fingers”in everything.This only drains time and energy away from those tasks that only you can do.If you cant trust others to accomplish things,youve got other issues to deal with.Specialists are very good at what they do because its all they do.Brain sur
20、geons dont treat in-grown toenails.The next step is to do it.Answering the above questions will help you define your specialty area.Start small by eliminating a few tasks that dont fit into your specialty area.Once you begin,youll find it easier to continue to narrow your focus by automatically scre
21、ening out those tasks that dont fit.You must be willing to give up the idea of being“all things to all people.”Its much better to be proficient at a few things than to be mediocre at many.The final step is to stick with it.You must remind others(and yourself)daily what your specialty is.This will he
22、lp keep you accountable to maintain your focus.I requested of one of my clients,the CEO of a large Marketing/PR firm,that she place a sign on her desk that read,“Neurovascular Marketing Specialist”.This obviously generated lots of questions from her staff which,in turn,gave her the opportunity to educate them on what her specialty area was,and more importantly,was not.Effective and fun.By learning to become a specialist,youll be able to lessen the sheer number of tasks to be accomplished each day and turn that“mountain”into a“molehill”.
