Not only children but all of their family can have fun there.The Legoland park will be in Fengjing town
2、in Jinshan. It covers an area of over 300,000 m, and there will be some restaurants and a theme hotel in it. The park has eight parts. Of all of them, the “Monkie Kid” is the most special one. It is based on the Chinese story Journeyto the West and its main character Sun Wukong, the Monkey King.The
3、park will also show something about Shanghai and the elements of Jiangnan. There will be Lego buildings of the Bund, Peoples Square, Oriental Pearl Towerand other famous places from across Shanghai. Tourists can also sit on a Jiangnan-style boat and tour the park.However, Legoland Shanghai will not
4、be the only Legoland park in China. Lego is working on two other parks Legoland Shenzhen is set to open in 2024, too, while Legoland Sichuan in 2023.Why DoDogs Tilt Their Heads?Sometimes, when we talk to our pet dogs, they tilt their heads. Why do they do that? Now, some scientists from Hungary may
5、find out the answer.The scientists did a study on 40 dogs. First, they asked some people to teach their dogs the names of some toys. Then, these people asked the dogs to pick out the toys. The scientists wanted to see whether the dogs could remember the toys names.The team found some dogs were bette
6、r at learning the names of toys than others. They called these dogs Gifted Word Learner (GWL) dogs. GWL dogs could remember at least 10toys, while other dogs couldnt even remember two.When the scientists asked the dogs to get a toy, GWL dogs tilted their heads 43% of thetime, but other dogs did so o
7、nly 2%. The team thought tilting heads may show the dogs are thinking about the meaning of the words.Interestingly, the direction of each dogs head tilt was almost always the same. Each one just seemed to prefer tilting to one side more than the other.Stamps for Year of the Tiger2022 is the Year of
8、the Tiger. To celebrate it, China Post issued a set of specialstamps. They are two tiger stamps, and each shows a different scene.One stamp is named “Guoyun Changlong”. It means our country is rich and strong. In the stamp, a strong tiger is standing and looking into the distance. It shows us that C
9、hina has a dream and makes up its mind to develop itself in the new year.The other stamp named “Huyun Jixiang” showsa heart-warming picture. 10、ry.Artist Feng Dazhong made the set of stamps.He said stamp design is not only an artistic creation but also a serious jobfor the country. And zodiac stamps have a history of more than 40 years in China. From 1980 on, famous artists started to create zodiac stamps every year to send New Years wishes
11、 to Chinese people.THEME READINGThey Are Learning ChineseMiriam Mitchell, 12, started to learn Chinese when she was a first-grader. “My parents want me to have more work opportunities. I also want to learn Chinese,” says Miriam.Lily Rabb, 14, started to learn Chinese in 2011. “I think Chinese is a b
12、eautiful language. China has a beautiful culture and a colorful history. I want to learn about all of it,” says Lily. And she plans to study fashion in China when she grows up.These teenagersare from Chicago Intercultural Montessori Language School. Theyre learning Chinese out of love for Chinese cu
13、lture. The school started teaching Chinese in 2009. It accepts students from the ages of 2 to 14. Of the 300 students at the school, more than 100 are taking Chinese classes.At first, interest came from parents of Chinese origin, but then non-Chinese Americans doing business with China joined in. “T
14、hey want to make sure that their children know how to speak Chinese,” says the school headmaster Roderick Shaw.The school celebrates Chinese Spring Festival every year, and the students organize all kinds of activities. The school also invites all students to taste mooncakes at the Mid-Autumn Festival.Roderick says, “We dont want just to teach the language; we want the students to experience the culture of China.”
