1、Unit 4 EarthquakeThe content of my lesson is New Senior English for China students Book1 Unit 4 Earthquake. Ill be ready to begin this lesson from six parts. Analysis of the teaching material, teaching aims, teaching key and difficult points, analysis of students, teaching methods, and the teaching
2、procedure. First, let me talk about the teaching material.Part 1 Teaching Material:我说课的内容是人教版英语必修1第4单元的短文阅读。阅读部分是整个单元的重点,它包含了本单元的重点词汇和语法结构。本单元以Earthquake 为话题,介绍了1976年的唐山大地震,旨在让学生通过感受唐山大地震,能运用所学词汇、句型来表达自己的观点、学习关于地震的知识并感受中华民族和中国人民的伟大。“A night the Earth Didn't Sleep” is taken from Unit4, Student s
3、Book 1, New Senior English for China, by PEP. This reading passage is the first period of this unit and it needs 45mins. It mainly talks about the biggest earthquake which hit Tangshan in 1976. This passage not only contains the attributive clauses which paves way for the next unit , but also embodi
4、es the theme of this whole unit.Part 2 Teaching objectives 1. Knowledge objectives:a) The Ss can hear, read, and use the main sentence patternsb) The Ss can understand the content of the lesson and can describe the signs before an earthquake, the damage of the quake and rescue work after the quake.c
5、) Ss can use the patterns to describe other natural disasters in the proper situation.d) Ss can master the order of the news report and the outline of the news.2. Ability objectives:(1) To train the Ss ability of reading.(2) To improve the students reading ability, especially their skimming and scan
6、ning ability.3. Emotional objectives:a) Get Ss to know more knowledge about an earthquake and how to survive an earthquake. b) Get Ss to have the awareness to face the reality bravely, thus strengthening their strong will and make them love our nation and people. Part 3 Teaching difficult and key po
7、int:1. Key pointsa) Get Ss to know the basic knowledge about natural disasters.b) Get Ss to learn about Tangshan Earthquake.c) Get Ss to learn different reading skills.2. 8、e students can't put what they have learned into use. From the aspect of moral, it is common that some students in senior school are very indifferent to anything but study. Sometime they are lack of a sense of sympathy and justice. These are the problems that I want to get through.Part 5 Teachin
9、g Methods:Well, how to achieve the teaching objects better, how to stress the important points and break through the difficult points? As is known to us all, the modern teaching demands the teacher improve the students ability. A good teaching method requires that the teacher should have the leading

According to the analysis of the teaching material and the students learning background, I will use the following methods .In my opinion, the main instructional aims of learning English in the Middle School are to develop the students abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and
11、their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson Ill mainly use “Communicative” Approach(交际教学法), and “Task-based” language teaching (任务教学法), TSA method(情景教学)Part 6 Teaching proceduresStep 1 Lead inShow Ss some pictures about natural disasters and ask them two questions.1. Can you tell som
12、e natural disasters?2. Have you ever experienced an earthquake? Can you describe how terrible an earthquake is? If not, can you imagine it? Step 2 Warming up and pre-reading1.Show a video about Wenchuan Earthquake and ask Ss to describe the damage of this quake.2.Ask questionsa) .Can we predict the
13、earthquake several days ahead?b) What do you think may happen before an earthquake? Please look at the following pictures.The signs before the earthquake1. We can see bright lights in the sky and hear the sound of planes while there is no plane in the sky.2. The animals are nervous, we can see the d
14、ogs are barking, the fish are jumping out of the bowls and ponds, the mice run out of fields, ducks jump into the river.3.
