、.12 Page 7 3.Product Overview 3.1 General MSW sensors are measuring steering wheels designed especially for use with passenger cars and utility vehicles.MSW sensors mount between the steering wheel and the steering shaft.A central aperture makes mounting easy and also allows to feed cables,eg.for ai
、rbag or multi-function steering wheel, through it.To permit universal application, the sensors are equipped with an exchange-able connection to the steering shaft gearing. For optimum safety,MSW sensors have a high breaking moment. As an additional safety measure, four driving pins ensure steering in the
、 event of breakage.Electronics are incorporated into the sensor.Power supply and signal output is provided via a 15 pin D-Sub plug.Kistler MSW sensors have a TTL/BOX selector switch, which enables operation with or without the MSW processor.Fig.1:MSW sensor with steering wheel, front and back view Mea

、racy of the sensor.Torque applied to the steering wheel is transferred directly through the measuring body and into the steering shaft.Bearing friction may have a minor influence on the subjective judgment of the test driver. The torque signal is transmitted from the rotor to the stator via a short-d
、istance telemetry system, which operates on the basis of frequency coding.Power supply of the DMS application is inductively coupled via the telemetry antennas. No internal battery required. An external zero-point balance for output signals M1 and M2 may be adjusted via two potentiometers.3.2.2 Steerin
、g Angle Acquisition Two TTL signals,phase-shifted 90,are generated by an incremental drum(which produces 900 pulses per rotation)and a non-contact,optical sensor. An electronic,four-flank evaluation of the TTL signals produces 3 600 pulses per rotation. The summing of the pulses generates the analog o

、striction.3.2.3 Steering Speed Steering speed must be calculated externally by differentiating the angle signal. The two 90 phase-shifted TTL signals(900 pulses per rotation)are output via the Lemosa connector.Product Overview CMSWA_002-610e-10.12 Page 9 3.3 Features?Non-contact optical steering angl
