11、ormation can be used for self-study purposes and as a source of reference.In preparation for the technical training and inconnectionwith the practical exercises as partof the training course,this manual will enablethe participant to perform service work in thearea of the electrical/electronicsystems

12、in theE93.Technical and practical knowledge of thesystems in the BMW E90,E92 is theprerequisite for fully understanding thechanges and systems presented in thisProduct Information.2334IntroductionElectrical/Electronic Systems E93.Modificationsin the electrical/electronicsystemsof the E93Convertible.

13、The vehicle electrical system and the scope ofelectrical/electronic systems are largelyidentical to those of the E92 Coupe.Adaptations and modifications have beenimplemented in individual systems in view ofthe different body structures of the closedCoupe and the open Convertible.This publication des

17、l.The E92/E93 vehicle systemsnetworks differonly slightly by the omission or addition of newcontrol units.The following changes have been made inthevarious bus systems:Changes to the PT-CANThe VGSG control unit and the DXC functionin the DSC are not required as the E93Convertible is not offered in a

18、 4-wheel driveversion.The 330d with diesel engine is equipped withan electromechanical steering system EPS.This system is used only in ACEA countries*for the purpose of reducing CO2 emissions.*Association of European automobilemanufacturers.Changes to the K-CANA new feature is the Convertible top mo

19、duleCTM which is connectedto the K-CANfor thepurpose of controlling the retractable hardtop.The ACSM 2 is used as the passive safetysystem which contains the sensors for therollover protection system.The SINE of the anti-theft alarm system DWAis no longer looped through the roof functionsmodule FZD

20、but rather connected directly tothe K-CAN.Changes to the MOSTThe universal charging and hands-free facilityULF is replaced by the interface box SBX withthe same scope of functions.The SBX isavailable in a further variant,i.e.the SBX Highwith expanded scope of functions.Changes to the LIN-busTwo cont

21、rol units for the seat belt extender onthe drivers and passengers side have beendropped from the LIN-bus as the seat belt inthe Convertible is located directly in the seat.Changes to the diagnosis busWith the introduction of the 320i Convertible,the D-CAN with a transmission rate of 500kbits/s is us

22、ed for the first time inthe E93.Theintroduction of the D-CAN is attributed to alegal requirementin the USA which stipulatesthat as from model year 2008 allnew vehiclesmust have a D-CAN in the OBD-II interface.The prerequisite for conforming to thisrequirement isa modified junction box with thecorres

23、ponding gateway functions.The diagnosis bus(115 kbits/s)is stillcurrentlyused in all other models.In future,thesemodels will also be changed over to D-CAN.The system network of the E93differs only marginally from that ofthe E92 in that new systems havebeen added or others omitted asthey are not offe

24、red in the E93.Anew feature is the Convertible topmodule on the K-CAN.The MRSsystem has been replaced by theACSM2 with rollover sensors.Theanti-theft system(DWA)isconnected directly to the K-CANand no longer looped through theFZD.651-Bus overview E93 Convertible EU75Vehicle systems network E92 USThe

25、 vehicle systems network US differs inthatitfeatures other systemsprovided specificallyfor the USA and Canada.Since no diesel vehicles are offered in theUSA,the corresponding control units havebeen omitted on the PT-CAN and BSD.Changes in K-CANA new feature is the Convertible top moduleCTM which is

35、ystemthat is implementedin the form of software inthe engine control unit(DME/DDE).The power management,the componentsand the various functions of the system differdependingon the equipmentconfiguration ofthe vehicle.Two energy managementcontrol systems areinstalled:Basic Power Management BPMAdvance

48、 E93 is equipped with a terminal 30g relayfor switching off the power supply to mostcontrol units.Most convenienceelectric loadssuch as the radio are switched off after 30minutes by terminal 30g in order to maintainthe starting capability of the battery.The afterrunning time is extended to 60minutes

49、 if a telephone or auxiliary heatingsystem is installed in the vehicle.The terminal30g relay is activated by the car accesssystem.Electric load shut-down terminal 30g_f relayFault-dependent shut-downThe terminal 30g_f relay is additionallyinstalled in the junction box of the E93 onlywhen one of the
