1、初中英语语法：比较级考点精讲（3）含有less的固定搭配less and less与more and more的意思相反，表示“越来越小”“越来越少”。如：He comes here less and less.他来这里的次数越来越少了。I find Im eating less and less meat.我发现我肉吃得越来越少了。He became less and less interested.他越来越不感兴趣。Holiday nights are getting less and less expensive.假日机票越来越便宜了。less than与more than意思相反，主要
2、用法有：1.用于两者比较，意为“比少(小)”。如：I earn less than he does.我比他钱挣得少。She eats less than a bird.她的食量比小鸟还少。2.指数量上“少于”“不足”。如：It costs less than5.这值不了5英镑。Ill see you in less than three weeks.要不了3周我就能再见到你了。2.表示轻微的否定，意为“不很”“并不是太”（主要见于美国英语中）。如：The job was less than perfect.这工作不十分理想。The boys were less than happy about
3、 having a party.开晚会男孩子并不很高兴。less.than1.表示“不像(如)”。如：He is less honest than his brother.他不如他哥哥聪明。This film is less interesting than that one.这部电影不如那部电影有趣。2.表示“比少”“不如多”。如：We drink less coffee than tea.我们喝咖啡不如喝茶多。We have less rainfall here than in Shanghai.我们这儿的降雨量比上海少。3.表示“与其不如”。如：I regard him less as
4、my teacher than as my friend.与其说我把他当作老师，不如说我是把他当作朋友。no less than1.表示“多达”“有之多”，用于强调数量之多。如：No less than a thousand people came.来的人竟然有上千人之多。He won no less than5000 in the lottery.他居然中了5000英镑的奖券。2.表示“简直”“与没差别”。如：It is no less than robbery to ask for so much.要求多么多，简直跟抢劫没两样。Sports wears, no less than suit
5、s, are very much saleable.运动服和西服套一样，非常畅销。3.表示“原来就是”“正是”。如()：He was no less than the mayor.他原来就是市长。Good heavens! Its no less a person than the president!天哪！原来真是总统啊！一点儿不假。no less.than主要用于强调同等性，意为“与一样”“不比差”。如：She is no less wise than you.他跟你一样聪明(他并不比你笨)。He is no less determined than you.他的决心不亚于你。A dolp

7、困难了。Were going more and more slowly.我们越走越慢了。I worry more and more every day.我一天比一天更加担心。Shes growing to be more and more like her mother.她长得越来越像她妈。注：有时用的可能是普通的比较级形式。如：The weather is getting colder and colder.天气越来越冷了。Debbie is growing fast. Shes getting taller and taller.戴比长得很快，她个子越来越高。more or less1.表
8、示“或多或少”“在一定程度上”“大体上”。如：The jobs more or less finished.这项工作差不多完成了。Ive more or less finished reading the book.我差不多已经把这本书看完了。2.表示“大约”“左右”。如：The repairs will cost $50, more or less.修理费大约要50美元。It took more or less a whole day to paint the ceiling.粉刷天花板用了将近一整天的时间3.表示“一点也不”，用于否定句。如：I dont like it, more or
9、less.我一点也不喜欢。I didnt understand it, more or less.我一点也不懂。more than1.表示“多于”，通常后接数词。如：Ive known him for more than twenty years.我已认识他20多年了。There were not more than a hundred people at the rally.大概不到100人参加了集会。2.表示“不只是”“不仅仅是”，通常后接名词、动词、从句等。如：He is more than a brother to me.他待我胜过兄长。His report is more than
10、a survey.他的报告不只是一份调查。The result was much more than I imagined.结果远远超过我的想象。3.表示“极其”“非常”，通常后接形容词、副词或分词等。如：She was more than kind to us.她对我们很友好。Im more than happy to take you there in my car.我非常愿意用汽车把你送去。4.表示“难以”“完全不能”，其后通常连用情态动词can。如：That is more than I can tell (=I cant tell that).那事我实在不明白。no more1.表示
11、“也不”。如：A：I cannot understand this at all.我根本不懂这个。B: No more can I.我也不懂。2.表示“不能再多”“没有更多的”，表示数或程度。如：I can eat no more.我不能再吃了。I have no more to say.我再没有什么要说的了。3.表示“不再”表示时间。如：Ill go there no more.我将再也不去那里了。no more than主要用于强调数量之少或程度之低，其意为“仅仅”“只有”“只不过”。如：I have no more than five yuan in my pocket.我口袋里的钱只不
12、过五元。This test takes no more than thirty minutes.这个测验需时不超过30分钟。The pub was no more than half full.该酒吧的上座率最多不超过五成。注：有时比较级不是more，而是其他形式的比较级。一般说来，no+比较级+than=as +与比较级意义相反的形容词的原形+as。如：Her French was no better than mine.她的法语跟我一样不好。Their house is no bigger than ours.他们的房子跟我们的一样不大。She looks no older than he
13、r daughter.她看起来跟她女儿一样不老。no more.than用于两者比较，并且否定两者，其意为“不也不”“同一样不”。如：Shes no more a great singer than I am.我不是优秀歌手，她也不是。Tom is no more rich than Jack is.杰克不是有钱人，汤姆也不是。I know no more Spanish than I know Greek.我对西班牙语和希腊语同样都不懂。He is no more an artist than you are a mathematician.就像你不是数学家一样，他也不是艺术家。whats more用于引出更重要的信息，其意为“更重要的”“更有甚者”“而且”。如：Hes dirty, and whats more he smells.他很脏，身上还有味儿呢。They are going to get married, and whats more they are setting up in business together.他们就要结婚了，而且还要一起做生意呢。She says we could use her car, and whats more, shell pay for the petrol.她说我们可以用她的车，而且她还愿付汽油费。学科网（北京）股份有限公司
