2、Ernest Shackleton was born on February 15, 1874 in Ireland and he was raised in London, where his family moved when Shackleton was 10. He joined an expedition to the Antarctica in 1901, but was sent home early due to his illness. Devoted to exploring the Antarctica, he led the Trans-Antarctic Expedi
3、tion. Disaster struck when his ship, the Endurance, was crushed by ice. He and his crew drifted on sheets of ice for months until they reached Elephant Island.
