2、owadays,we are in such globalized environment world,where different culture encounter and interact.In China,we can sense it clear that in recent years many western festivals,such as Thanksgiving Day,Christmas Day,and Valentines Day,have been gradually accepted by most Chinese.It is a pity that the V
3、alentines Day seems to be more popular than Chinese Valentines Day in the 7th of lunar day of the 7th of lunar month.In 2010,the Spring Festival and Valentines Day fell on the same day coincidentally.It is no doubt that there is a big competition between two festivals.In the market,on one hand,activ
4、ities to promotion sales on Spring Festival are in progress,on the other hand,various kinds of chocolates were placed in the prominent position.To be honest,chocolates drew more attention to young people.It is no doubt that the first day of lunar year is an important day for family reunion,but there
5、 was a heated discussion on the Internet about“who you spent the first day of lunar year with”.Although the Spring Festival do not lose its vital position,the discussion which was arose from the media,revealing the fact that our traditional culture is confronting with the big challenge,and it is enc
6、ountering neglection and embarrassment.There is a joke that lover is more significant than families,so people attach much more importance to love rather than family love.These phenomena reflect declining effects of traditional culture among the young people.The Chinese nation with its industriousnes
7、s and wisdom has created a long and over-lasting history and a rich,colorful culture.But,now,it faces with the great challenge which results from foreign cultures.So how can we deal with such challenge?First is about the inheritance and innovation of traditional culture,Take the right attitude towar
8、ds traditional culture matters much.Neither should we negate traditional culture totally,nor affirm absolutely.Be sure to make the distinguish between positive culture and negative culture.Dont make the feudal,negative culture become prevalent or the positive culture lost is our principal principle.
9、We should remember that what we can change is only the form of culture,by no means its essence.Faced with the challenge we can still find some people who call for protection of traditional culture.Virtue and morality,the traditional culture,handed down from generation to generation is an indispensab
10、le principle that we should follow,especially in todays world filled with temptations.Our great president Jiang Zeming ever said that innovation was the soul of a nations progress and unceasing power of a countrys prosperity.It is well known that our traditional Chinese culture,both extensive and pr
11、ofound,dates back to ancient times,but how can such foreign culture,such as Korean TV soaps,cartoons,blockbuster movie,and etc.become prevalent and have a great market in China.Only in the view of world to see China,can we carry forward our traditional culture well.That is to say,China should be pla
12、ced in the background of globalization,in order to reconsider its traditional culture again.We can see it clearly that the story about how Meng Kes mother teaches the son has existed in our traditional culture for a long time without any leap and innovation.It is proved that the more innovative one
13、is,the more possible he can stand in the forest of world culture.It is high time that we should transform the challenge caused by foreign culture into the drive to innovate.Maybe we can make a good connection between our traditional culture and modern culture by learning from foreign culture.In conc
14、lusion,we should have the right attitude toward culture,protect our traditional culture with tolerance to foreign culture and pay more attention to reasonable innovation of traditional culture.I do believe that we will have a bright future if we follow these suggestions.Second is about absorption an
15、d reference of foreign culture.It is because our nations own wisdom that creates such brilliant traditional culture,which also has made great contribution to the culture development of the world.In the meantime,China is also a country which is famous for its tolerance.Be good at absorption and refer
16、ence of foreign culture is the most visible way.Put our own traditional culture and foreign culture in the equal position counts much.The reason why we admire foreign culture is that we are unfamiliar with them or just know them partially.As the text tells us,when faced with the foreign culture,we c
17、an not learn it from the superficial aspect and admire it blindly.Just like the example the author show us,if an Englishman admires the superficial atmosphere of France,he is making a mistake.For example,obscenity is the expression of French passionate love to make things public,but if the Englishma
18、n just admires it superficially,he may become a knave.The more sincerely he loves French things,the more dangerous his mistake will be.Because he may far away from the virtue of France.How can we learn the foreign culture well?It is no doubt that it requires long years of studying.We not only need t
19、o learn its language,but its culture.Language is the carrier of culture,while culture is the content of language.There is no language without culture.Whats more,without culture,language will have no practical meanings.Just like us,the English major,we learn words,sentences,grammars,and western cultu
20、re,such as,the subject called the general situation of British and American Literature.To some decree,learning its culture can avoid some unnecessary embarrassments when we communicate with foreigners.There are taboos we need to pay much attention to.It is because western countries emphasize the imp
21、ortance of individualism that they care much about their privates.It is impolite to mention the question about their age,especially to ladies.As for income,although it is common to ask people such a question in China,in western countries,it is surprising that even the family members do not know othe
22、rs situation of income.In other word,it is every member,our whole nation who can protect our own culture from being replaced.Only in this way can our national culture,our country still be in the intercultural world.On one hand,we should protect our positive traditional culture from being replaced;on the other hand,we should have a great innovation to them on the basis of learning from positive foreign culture.
