As kids, we traveled to Salmon Arm, B.C., every summer to spend it with my grandpa and grandma. Memories of houseboating, fishing, countless hours in the lake, and of course jam-making remain in all our hearts可知,作者的童年是丰富多彩的。2.A。 One summe

、r, for some reason, they werent able to make jam. I remember my mom being really sad and I didnt understand till some years later that making jam with her dad wasnt really about the jam at all可知,作者当时无法理解母亲在得知无法制作果酱后为什么会难过。3.C。 I knew that each jar was made with love and care,第三段中的I dont

、know what they talked about for all those hours, or if they even talked at all, but any silence was filled with feelings of love and happiness以及最后一段中的I feel joy watching my mom and grandpa share this time together可知,作者认为制作果酱的意义在于在家庭中传递爱和欢乐。4.B。 Its a tradition that one day my mom will c

、arry forward with me, and many years from now, I will carry forward with my daughter可知,作者将会继承并发扬制作果酱这一家庭传统。 In the human body, for example, individual cells work together as muscle tissue. Many other types of cells also move together as a group. T

、he robot moves in the same way可知,当机器人的不同部件被组合起来,它就会像肌肉组织那样可以移动。6.B。 Scientists behind the project were inspired by nature可知,科学家发明此机器人是从大自然得到了灵感。7.A。 Tiny magnets on the disks outer rims make them stick together. When one disk expands or shrinks, it pushes or pulls on its neig

it pushes or pulls on its neighbors中的it指代上文中的disk,进而可以推知its neighbors指的是other disks。8.D。 The scientists showed this by fitting sensors on each disk that could recognize light. Then they programmed the disks to expand and shrink faste

、r or slower, depending on how strong the light was. When the researchers shone a bright light, the robot slowly moved toward it the result of all those individual expansions and shrinks可知,这个机器人可以感知光,根据光的强弱来调整自己移动的速度。

B项中的dangerous与本空前的in the middle of an Antarctic winter相照应,B项中的the trip was a success与本空后的safely arrived at a hospital相照应。10. A。 Two planes traveled south、One of them landed at the Rothera Research

C项中的between February and October与下文中的summer形成对比。

I never will be a runner及下文中的I didnt discriminate against running可知,此处表示“跑步这项运动(或锻炼方式)”,故选exercise。15. C。 I never will be a runner及I didnt discriminate against running, though可推断,“我”不喜欢所有的体力活动。

16. A。17. D。 I signed up and trained for eight weeks可知,当“我”“得知(discovered)”这个活动是彩色跑时,“我”没有像往常那样不假思索地拒绝,而是认真“考虑了一下(considered)”。18. B。

I felt intimidated by my co-workers, who were experienced runners可知, “我”很不自信,担心自己会在同事面前丢脸,故选shame(使蒙受耻辱;使丢脸)。20. B。 I not only kept up可推断,在比赛那天,“我”不仅能跟得上同事们,而且还“领先了(led)”。21. C。 I never will b

、e a runner对照呼应。22. B。 四个选项中,只有frightening(令人害怕的)符合语境。23. C。 Thoughts troubled me. I cant do it提示设空处所填的词应24. A。 But Id paid the fee for this race and thought that if I had to walk I would可推断,“我”差点都要弃赛了,故选giving up(放弃)。25. B。

、 walked with her but didnt need to可推断,跑到五英里时,“我”应该感觉还可以,great符合语境。26. D。下文中的I walked with her提示本空选walk。27. C。 I can do things that seem impossible
