3、ofollowsuit.Mortonsrealopportunity,though,arrivedwhenhebecameamemberofNebraskasstateboardofagriculture.Heproposedthataspecialdaybesetasidededicatedtotreeplantingandincreasingawarenessoftheimportanceoftrees.NebraskasfirstArborDaywasanamazingsuccess.Morethanonemilliontreeswereplanted.AsecondArborDayto
4、okplacein1884andtheyoungstatemadeitanannuallegalholidayin1885,usingApril22ndtocoincidewithMortonsbirthday.IntheyearsfollowingthatfirstArborDay,MortonsideaspreadbeyondNebraskawithKansas,Tennessee,MinnesotaandOhioallproclaimingtheirownArborDays.Todayall50statescelebrateArborDayalthoughthedatesmayvaryi
