1、Hello,everyone.This is Jia Xiaoli from The Second Affiliated Hospital of Xian Jiaotong University.Here Id like to talk about what should we know about COVID-19.In December 2019,there was a cluster of pneumonia cases in Wuhan.Investigations found that it was caused by previously unknown virus now nam
2、ed the 2019 novel coronavirus.This is a new virus.What is known about virus still in change?Corona virus are a large family of virus.They consist of core of genetic material surrounded by envelope with protein spikes,which gives appearance of crown.Crown in Latin is corona.This how the virus got its
3、 name.There are different types of coronavirus that cause respiratory,sometimes gastrointestinal symptoms.Respiratory disease can range from common cold to pneumonia,and in most people,the symptoms tend to be mild.However,there are some types of coronavirus can cause severe disease.This including Se
4、vere Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus,first identified in China in 2003.The Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus that was first identified in Saudi Arabia in 2012.The 2019 novel coronavirus was first identified in China that is COVID-19.There are many cases in China and the disease has
5、 spread within China and also in other countries.Till yesterday,there are more than 110000 cases confirmed globally.China has more than 80000 cases and more than 3000 deaths.Outside China,almost 900 deaths in more than 100 countries,territorials or areas.The COVID-19 is an infectious disease.It coul
6、d spread from person to person through two mainly methods.One,the droplets produced when an infected person speaks,cough or sneeze.Second,close contacts.The symptoms could range from mild to severe.There can be fever,respiratory symptoms such as cough and shortness of breath or diarrhea.In severe ca
7、ses,there are difficulty breathing,kidney failure,hypoxaemia,even cause death.COVID-19 can be diagnosed by history of epidemiology,clinical manifestation and the lab test.For the treatment,there is no specific medication for the virus,and the treatment is supportive care.There is no vaccine to prote
8、ct against the virus,treatment and vaccine are still in development.How do we prevention the transmission of this disease and protect ourselves?There are some standard hygiene measures.Such as cover your mouth and your nose when coughing or sneezing with the medical mask or tissue.Avoiding close con
9、tact maintain at least 1 meters distance,especially with those who is coughing or sneezing.Wear masks,especially in hospital.Clean your hands regularly with soap and water or alcohol based hand rub.To the COVID-19,first stay healthy and prevent spread of the virus.If you have a fever,cough and difficulty breathing,seek medical care as early as you can.Finally,we are not at the mercy of this virus.Thats all.Thank you for your listening.
