Welcome to the Digital Revolution.The digital revolution, also sometimes called the third industrial revolution, is the change from mechanical and electronic
2、technology to digital technology which has taken place since about 1980 and continues to today. To illustrate more precisely, the term also refers to the great changes concerning to the digital computing and communication technology during the late 20th century. The digital revolution, analogous to
3、the agricultural revolution and industrial revolution, marked the beginning of Information Age. Wikipedia, 2012Digital revolution has brought great changes for people. But some said that it is a wicked system. In some aspect, it can be interpreted as a wicked system. Why? Because of the differences
4、of socioeconomic and other demographic levels, there is a big divide in developing information of individuals, households, businesses, and geographic areas which is called the digital divide, while the global digital divide designates countries as the units and examine the divide between developing
5、countries and developed countries on an international scale. The digital revolution is creating a new class of educated, global participants. This means more competition and it means more innovation. Its all these things and more converging to produce a significant technology-based social and busine
6、ss disruption. The existing paradigms are destructing and the new ones are creating. The entire industries have been transformed into entire new ones.WISTA, 2000 The completely new models appear: location-based services, mobile apps, gamification, payment systems and new forms of payment, cloud comp
7、uting, big data analysis and visualization, recommendation engines, near-field communications, real-time knowledge, tablets and other new form factors, augmented reality, gesture-based computing, personal medicine, large scale global social networks, micro blogging and more. Many of these did not ex
8、ist five years ago and many more will exist in the next five years. In fact, the next major disruptor is probably already underway. This kind of change is equally exciting and terrifying for organizations.Compared with the past, the world become closer and people can know others and grasp chances of
9、 business. The way of individuals and companies to interact is radically changed. Given China for an example, it grasped the chance and made the policy of open and reform. The industry of information and the digital grows fast in China. All of this provides chances for both small regional companies
10、and big national companies, especially for the small regional companies. They were suddenly given access to much larger markets. The companies make full use of digital divide to gain profits. It can be seen clearly that after initial concerns of an IT productivity paradox, digital technologies have
11、significantly increased the productivity and performance of business.Business has working hard through independent projects to provide assistance to disadvantaged economic groups. Localities, regions or countries, aimed at transforming the digital divide into a digital opportunity. Many sizeable com
12、panies have taken up some local or regional responsibility in bridging the digital divide. The governments also adopt a policy framework which ensures access to digital information and communication networks available. In order to generate productivity and income impacts at the economy level of the innovation, business has spent enormous resources on research and development to make the Internet an effective commercial medium which has brought about substantial increase in economic efficiency through mo
14、re transparent processes and greater information. WISTA, 2001To reach the aim of increase the efficiency, they reduce production cycles and provide better customization of products and services. Thanks to the Internet, the labor, capital and product markets are conducive to competition and adaptatio
15、n. The use of Internet has already increased competition and adaption. In order to win in this challenging digital revolution, both developing and developed countries strive to win. The digital divide brings chances for business. However, the developing of the business should rely on the support of
