The “New Curriculum Standard(2017)” has released, in the meantime the college entrance examination has also tranformed. The traditional English reading teaching has not been able to conformtothe“New Curr
6、iculum Standard”trendofthetime. Therefore, English reading as an essential part of the college entrance examination and senior high school English learning, its teaching skills and learning methods also need to innovate timely. In many aspects such as reading material selection, teaching design, cla
7、ssroom activities, self-study and so on, senior high school English teaching should comprehensively improve students language ability, cultural awareness, thinking quality and independent learning ability. The four aspects of the core competence of English discipline are different in the cultivation

This paper will take the senior high school English textbook under the guidance of the New Curriculum Standard as an example and refer to the four key qualities of English subject proposed by the “New Curriculum Standard” to discuss the new teaching strategies of high school English readin

According to this research, we can gain more clear understanding of English reading teaching under the core competences, and at the same time, it is more helpful for senior high
