2、se)在句中作状语，可修饰主句中的动词、形容词和副词等。状语从句由从属连词引导。状语从句可放在句首或句末。放在句首时，从句后面常用逗号；放在句末时，从句前面往往不用逗号。When the plane arrived, some of the detectives were waiting inside the main building while others were waiting on the airfield.二、引导状语从句的连词分类状语从句根据它们的含义分为时间、地点、原因、目的、结果、方式、让步、条件、比较等九种。1. 时间状语从句：常用的连词有：when, as, while
3、, before, after, since, till (until), as soon as, hardlywhen, no soonerthan, the moment 等。 * 时间状语从句一般不用将来时，因此，主句若为将来时，时间状语从句要用一般现在时。Ill go on with the work when I come back tomorrow.As soon as I finish the work, Ill go to see you.*连词 when/ as / while表示“当的时候”，但是有区别。1) When 强调特定时间。例如：When spring came,

Second conditional（虚拟条件句） 想象的，将来不可能发生的事。If the sun stopped shining, plants would disappear. 现在不可能存在的状态。If I lived closer t
7、o school, I wouldnt have to get up so early.3. 地点状语从句：一般由where, wherever, anywhere等引导。 In the future, well be able to use modern technology to go anywhere we like. Wherever he went he carried a notebook around with him, in which he wrote down his ideas.4. 原因状语从句：通常由because, since, as, now that等引导。 S
