Along with the

3、steam engine invention, to 19th century in leafs Victoria time, England has become in the world the most advanced industrialized country, leaps to the world first place in the production and the trade yeast, everywhere carries out the gunboat policy, captures the marine hegemony, invades the colony,

4、 massively plunders other country wealth. Great Britain dominates the world, spreads Europe, Asia, America, Africa, Australia in the overseas control region and it is known as the date not to fall the empire.This period is the most prosperous period, and it is should be the prosperous to leave the w

5、orld two very profound influences that one is English and the other is industrial revolution.The influence of EnglishEnglish nowadays is used in a lot areas around the world. Once called as the “sun-never set country” in the 19th century, the British Empire owned about 1/4 land of the world. At that

6、 time, the language of the ruler, the English, was the language chosen for communication between different colonies and within the British Empire. English now is the official language for more than 80 countries and becomes one of the most popular language for international communication.Nowadays Eng

7、lish is popular in many fields, such as academy, international political meetings, entertainment, business, and even personal social interaction. In the field of mass media, English is the most favorite language. Take the TV news as an example. CNN and BBC are good choices to get information about t

8、he current international news. In the entertainment industry, English has an unparalleled position. In the movie field, Hollywood plays an important role and produces lots of movies every year. Among the movies from Hollywood, most are in English or come with English subtitles. In the music field, h

9、aving English communication ability seems to be the basic requirement for the artists to compete in the global market. English is preferred to any other language in the field of science and technology. Besides being used in books, newspaper, academic conferences, and science technology, English is a

10、lso the main language employed in international settings, international airports, advertising, and organizations.In all the above cases, English globalization makes English become the international lingual franca for communication. A lingua franca is used as a tool for communication. When two speake

11、rs with different first languages want to communicate with each other, each speaker has to choose a common language to make himself/herself understood. The chosen common language is the lingua franca. Currently, the language chosen most often around the world is English (House, 2003). To these peopl

12、e who choose English as the lingua franca, English is used as a tool to achieve something beneficial to their lives, for making money, job.The reason of this influenceWhy does this phenomenon take place? Generally speaking, there is a primary factor accounting for this phenomenon. Because Great Brit

14、 Empire.The influence of industrial revolutionFrom the 18th to well into the 19th century,the famous Industrial Revolution from where the greatest changes in several parts made a profound effect on thewhole society in theUnited Kingdom, then subsequently spreading throughout Europe, North America, a

It is a great revolution which brings about a new times in modern history of the world of produce and technology.It goes without saying that the agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transport, and technology have already undergone massive changes in the blink of an eye.

16、 The Industrial Revolution is considered a major turning point in human history almost every aspect of daily life was eventually influenced to some degree. Most notably, the population began to display unprecedented sustained growth and the quality of peoples lives improved dramatically. The industr

17、ial revolution was the driving force behind social change between the 18th and 19th centuries. England had already been well on its way toward becoming a major workshop of the world. During the century, human power was rapidly being supplanted by machine power; the domestic system was being replaced

18、 by the factory system; and a substantial part of the population was moving to industrial towns and cities.In my opinion, the industrial revolution played the vital role. First of all, it is not only the British industrial development to increase productivity, but also indicates the rapid developmen

19、t of science and technology. Secondly, the famous scientist helped to reduce the workforce and enhance the industrial development speed. However, due to the industrial revolution, the consolidation of the economic base and superstructure set up, but masses of people were still in poverty, unemployme

20、nt. Cyclical economic crisis also produced a new social contradiction. Overall industrial revolution not only brings benefits to the people, but also for people irreparable loss.The causes of the Industrial RevolutionIt is a necessary result of the social development in Britain. The bourgeoisie in B

21、ritain accomplished its “primitive accumulation of capital” through plunder and expansion. First of all, the population increased in the 18th century. There was need for more food and goods. People had to find ways to increase production. Then, new machines were invented. They changed the way of pro

22、duction in farms and factories. Production was increased more quickly. This brought about the Industrial Revolution. Third, the Europeans set up more colonies overseas in order to open markets that were ready to absorb more manufactured goods. Fourthly, more capital was accumulated from trade which provided the funds to pioneer the industrial revolution. Finally, in Europe feudalism was ended, so it was time to make some change.第 6 页
