He was the son of a bankrupt man, but became a millionaire; a scientist with a love of literature, an industrialist who managed to remain an idealist. He ma
2、de a fortune but lived a simple life, and although cheerful in company he was often sad in private. A lover of mankind, he never had a wife or family to love him; a patriotic son of his native land, he died alone on foreign soil. He invented a new explosive, dynamite, to improve the peacetime indust
3、ries of mining and road building, but saw it used as a weapon of war to kill and injure his fellow men. During his useful life he often felt he was useless: World-famous for his works he was never personally well known, for throughout his life he avoided publicity. but since his death his name has b
4、rought fame and glory to others. Alfred Nobel was cold to material gains and honor, and extremely honest. Once he stated why he was able to won so many honors in a letter: his medals did not come from his invention of dynamite. For example, Swedish government awarded his medal because of his talents
5、 in cooking; French government gave his medal because of his good relationship with one French minister; Brazil presented his medal because of becoming a friend of a Brazilian VIP by accident. He also gave us a story in his autobiography in humorous words: Alfred Nobel, his poor life was nearly ende
6、d in the hand of a kind-hearted doctor when he came to the earth. Major merits: always keep his hand nail clean and nice-looking by own and never by others.
