1、HistoryConfucianism was used by Han Wu di as a political system to govern the Chinese state. Despite it lost influence during the Tang Dynasty, Confucianism remained a mainstream Chinese orthodoxy for two m川ennia until the 20th century. It was attacked by radical Chinese thinkers as an obstacle to C
2、hinas modernization during the Cultural Revolution. Since the end of the Cultural Revolution, Confucianism has been revived in mainland China.Talking of Confucianism, we must know its representative personage,Confucius is a great thinker and educator in the period of spring and autumn and Warring St
3、ates and the founder of the Confucian School. He was a sage and social philosopher of China whose teachings have deeply influenced East Asia, including China, Korea, and Japan and so on.Principles of Confucianism.Confucianism has left us a rich literary heritage knows as the Four Books and Five Clas
4、sics: The Great Learning, The Mean, Analects, and Mencius; Book of Change, Book of History, Book of Odes, Book of Rites and Spring and Autumn Annals.The main literature representative of his thoughts is the Analects. The basic thoughts of Confucius is the following six aspects:The first one is human
5、ity. As the core of the political thoughts of Confucius, it put forward the problems of how to conduct oneself and deal with relationship between people.The second one is rite. The specific stipulation of rectifying names is monarch, official, father and son1 with faithfulness and filial piety as th
6、e root. These stipulations constitute relations of the patriarchal clan system.The third one is neutrality. It requires that people should be within reason when doing all kinds of things and dealing with all kinds of problems.The fourth one is virtue. Confucius proposes that rulers themselves should
7、 cultivate virtue, command oneself and rule by virtue1.The fifth one is education. He not only puts forward the educational thoughts of establishing private institution, educating without distinction and teaching students in accordance of their aptitude, but also spread them.The sixth one is cultiva

He contends that people should strengthen the cultivation of individual mind, self-command, and the cultivation of ones morality.InfluenceConfucianism had been regarded as an ethic-political system in ancient China. For more than thousand years it has shaped the civilization of China and exerted a profound influenced upon almost one fourth of the human race.
