1、Last weekendAnalysis of teaching materialThis is from lets read, Unit 3 of book 8, PEP. This part is a short passage about what happened last weekend. Students are supposed to use the past tense of verbs. The teaching objectives are set as follows. The knowledge objectives are to know the past tense
2、 of some verbs like fly. The skills objectives are to use reading skills to predict what will happen in the passage and to infer word meaning from the context. The emotional objectives are set to encourage students to help others when they are in trouble. The key and difficult points are to use the
3、past tense of verbs.Analysis of studentsStudents of Grade 6 have accumulated certain reading skills, but the usage of verb past tense is difficult for students to remember, especially those verbs with special past tense.Teaching and learning methodsThis lesson will adopt task-based language teaching
4、 approach and communicative approach. The learning methods students employ are independent learning and cooperative learning methods.Teaching proceduresLeading in/ warming up:I will ask students what they did last weekend. Students are encouraged to talk about their weekend in groups. The purpose of
5、 doing so is to arouse their interests in todays lesson.Pre-reading:While listening to the passage, students are asked to find the main idea of this passage with the help of first sentence in each paragraph. The purpose for pre-reading is to familiarize students with the general meaning of the passa
6、ge and to improve their ability of skimming.While reading:In this section, I would like to set three tasks for students. First, students are asked to read the whole passage within 3 minutes and try to find the key words to fill the blanks in Exercise 1. This task aims to cultivate students ability o
7、f skimming. Second, students are supposed to read the passage for the second time within 3 minutes and try to make a correct order for sentences in Excercise 2. Task 2 will be completed through pair word and it aims to improve students ability of scanning and information processing. Third, students
8、will read the passage together one more time to get a clear picture of what happened to this boy today.Post-reading:Students are encouraged to do a survey within 5 minutes in their groups to find out what their groupmates did last weekend and write down what they find. Then each group sends one stud
9、ent to the front of the classroom to report what theyve found. The rest of the students will be little judges and decide who will be the winner. The winner will win a big star for their group. The purpose of doing the survey is to cultivate students9 communicative abilities and ability to collect in
10、formation.SummaryTo summarize this lesson, students are supposed to retell what the boy did today and then I will encourage them to write down what they did everyday and try to help people in need. The purposes for doing so are to review ways to talk about things happened today or before and to encourage students care for others.Homework:Students are asked to write down what they did today and to share them with their classmates next class. The purpose for doing the homework is to guide students to talk about things happened today or before.
