、e Analysis - CEAD, QRG - Unexpected Normalization Complex eigenvalue analysis with the inverse power method of eigenvalue extraction will always normalize to MAX. POINT normalization requests are ignored. The Version 70.5 Quick Reference Guide has been updated to indicate that point normalization is

、 only available for the det method. 745; GL; Plotting - XYOUTPUT - UFM 688, UFM 687 In requesting XYOUTPUT, if the last frame request on an XYPLOT command is for an upper frame only, e.g., .(T1,), then the USER FATAL MESSAGE 688 or 687 will terminate the run. An avoidance is to explicitly insert 100

、ctra uses DLOAD Bulk Data entries. They point to DTI entries, and can violate the DLOAD rule that says the Li entries must be unique. However, the DLOAD entry is not checked if no RLOADi or TLOADi entries appear in the Bulk Data Section. It is therefore illegal to have RLOADi or TLOADi entries prese

、nt when using scaled response spectra. If they are not present, the solution sequence will function properly. 868; 70.7; Miscellaneous - PUNCH - Incorrect Format STRESS(PUNCH) will not properly output the HEXA, PENTA, BEND, BEAM, TRIA6, or QUAD8 elements. Element margins of safety (ROD, CONROD, TUBE

、, and BAR elements) will produce poor punched formats if stress allowables are not given on the referenced MATi entries. 888; GL; Limitation on Problem Size - Rigid Elements - UFM 3008 The capacity for processing Rigid Elements in the GP4 module is limited since the entire nonzero RG matrix must be

、stored in memory. Splines are particularly bad. For example, let NS = the number of RSPLINEs (two dependent, five independent), R = the number of RBARs, and NG = the number of grids. Then, (350 X NS + 90 X R) (OC -7 X NG - 3 X BUFFSIZE). For example, if OC = 72000, NG = 1000 and BUFFSIZE = 4166, the

、n the user is limited to 150 splines. 889; GL; Elements - CELAS - Unintended Constraints Scalar elements connected to noncolinear degrees of freedom introduce constraints which will not appear in the output. 890; GL; Grid Point Force - GPFDR - UFM 3008 The open core requirement for the GPFDR module

、can be as large as (6 X BUFFSIZE + 14 X number of grids) if the grids use a nonrectangular displacement coordinate system. For problems in basic coordinates, the grid requirement drops to 8 X number of grids. 903; GL; Elements - CONEAX, SORT2 - Incorrectly Formatted Output Conical shell problems do

、not prepare SORT2 output properly. In addition, the SORT2 requests generate unwanted and meaningless punched output. 916; GL; Plotting - XYPAPERPLOT - Missing Plot Output X-Y paper plots do not include all the features of a graphic plotter. Titles and MAX/MIN functions are about the only features su

、pported. TICS, DIVISIONS, GRID LINES, and LOG SCALES are not supported. 1022; GL; Nonlinear Analysis - OLOAD - Wrong Answers The resultants for the applied loads are incorrect if cylindrical or spherical coordinates are used. This output is informational only and the solution is not affected. 1065;

、GL; Superelements - SEMA - SEMA FATAL MESSAGE Superelements may be excluded from assembly in SEKR and SELR (SEEXCLUDE). However, if all upstream superelements are excluded from a given superelement, then the program will fail. An avoidance is to put PARAM,NOUP,-1 in the first Case Control subcase fo

、r the failing superelement. 1086; GL; Plotting - CONTOUR - UFM 4212 Insufficient open core for contour plotting may result in a misleading message. The avoidance is to increase open core. 1103; GL; Dynamic Response - TRD, TRD1, FRRD, FRR - UFM 3005 If the MGIV method of real eigenvalue extraction co

、mputes modes for massless DOF with uncoupled stiffness terms, the eigenvalue is large (1.E+35) as it should be, but the generalized stiffness is 0.0 (it should also be 1.E+35). Null eigenvectors may be produced. An avoidance is to use PARAM,HFREQ or PARAM,LMODES to discard these bad modes in dynamic

、s. 1125; GL; Sequencer - RESTART, PARAM,NEWSE - Wrong Answers If the sequence processor is used for any part of an analysis, it should be executed on all restarts which input data. The value of PARAM,NEWSEQ should remain unchanged in every run. 1183; GL; Eigenvalue Analysis - READ - Negative Term on

、 Factor Diagonal If the user requests the eigenvector for an infinite frequency mode, the program may fail. An avoidance is to reduce the ND value on the EIGR bulk data entry to be less than N. The Nth eigenvector is numerical noise. 1308; 68; Aeroelastic Analysis - FA1 - Poor Answers The eigenvalue

、 extractions by the PK and KE methods are performed in lower precision than most other calculations (single precision). Excessive truncation error may occur in some problems on short-word machines. The only machines that will not experience this problem are the CRAY, CDC and NEC computers. Contact M

、SC for avoidance procedure. 1357; 70.5; Aeroelastic Analysis - GI - Poor Accuracy The linear splines used to connect structural and aerodynamic degrees of freedom are sensitive to modeling techniques, particularly on short-word machines. This included all machines except CRAY, CDC and NEC. It is goo

、d practice to have the spline axis coincide with the structural grid points, and to avoid discontinuities in the lines joining structural grid points by using separate splines on each side of the discontinuity. 1405; GL; Elements - HEXA - Stress Discontinuities Transitioning mesh densities by connec

、ting two elements to one with midside nodes causes local stress perturbations, because the assumed displacement shapes at the interface are not compatible. An avoidance is to use PENTA elements to change the mesh size. 1551; GL; Eigenvalue Analysis - READ - Eigenvalues Not Found The wrong reason for

、 termination may be given if the region for search listed on the EIGB or EIGR bulk data entry does not include negative eigenvalues or if NE is underestimated. An avoidance is to increase the number of roots desired (ND) and the number estimated (NE) to ensure all roots in the region are found. 1575

、; 69; Dynamic Response - VDR - No Output If an OUTPUT(XYPLOT) command is in case control, but there are no other XYPLOT commands, all printed output requests are ignored. An avoidance is to put in XYPLOT requests or remove the OUTPUT(XYPLOT) command. 1581; GL; Elements - SOL 64, 66 - Various Symptom

、s of Numerical Instability If flat plate models have out-of-plane singularities when unloaded, but have enough angle between adjacent plates to constrain singularities in the deformed state, various numerical problems such as overflow, machine-dependent messages from trigonometric functions, or othe

、r problems may arise. An avoidance is to use PARAM,K6ROT,1.0 to provide stiffness for the out-of-plane singularities. 1584; GL; Geometric Nonlinearity - GNFM - SFM 3007 If PARAM,TESTNEG,-2 is used in SOL 64, and grid point singularities exist, the computational zeroes they cause on the diagonal of t

、he factor of the stiffness matrix can be small negative numbers, leading to the error message SYSTEM FATAL MESSAGE 3007. PARAM,TESTNEG,-2 should not be used in Subcase 1. PARAM,AUTOSPC,YES will remove this type of singularity. 1664; GL; DMAP - Dummy Elements - Wrong Answers User-written element subr

、outines that use OXFORM=5 produce incorrect results from the EMA module. The values of OXFORM=3 or 4 may be used instead. 1679; 66; Elements - QUAD4,TRIA3 - Wrong Answers When the MID4 option of the PSHELL card is used to simulate offset of the element centerline from the grid point plane, the eleme

、nt is somewhat too stiff. The error increases with the ratio of offset to element width. An avoidance is to use RBAR elements to model the offsets . 1712; GL; Frequency Response Analysis - RANDOM - SWM 3002, UWM 979 If a non-existent point is referenced in an output request when there are multiple s

、ubcases, the RANDOM module will cease processing at that point and issue SYSTEM WARNING MESSAGE 3002. The following user warning message is now issued: 0* USER WARNING MESSAGE 979, AN XY-OUTPUT REQUEST FOR POINT OR ELEMENT ID 2000 -ACCE- CURVE IS BEING PASSED OVER. THE ID COULD NOT BE FOUND IN DATA

、BLOCK 102 1738; 66; Grid Point Stress - Preface - UFM 603 If the SURFACE Case Control card has a continuation card, and the first words that appear on this card are OUTPUT SYSTEM, the error occurs. An avoidance is to start the continuation with another word. 1739; 66; DMAP - DIAG 4 - Addressing ERROR
