The novel describing several different marriages among young women of the middle class, which reveals that love i
2、s the foundation for a happy marriage, and also should be based on a large amount of money. Pride and Prejudice also reflected Jane Austens marriage view: It is wrong to marry for the property, money and position. She emphasizes the importance of the ideal marriage, and regards men and womens emotio
3、n as the foundation stone which concludes the ideal marriage. The story of Pride and Prejudice took place in the time of the Regency in Britain. At that time, Britain was at the period of transition from the earlier stage of Capitalism to Capitalist Industrialization. In the countryside, the aristoc
4、ratic family still held great power and right that country squires were likely to fawn upon them. However, as the development of Capitalism and the expand of the rank of rich people, the distinction between social strata was becoming smaller and smaller, while money was getting more and more importa
5、nt in peoples mind about social value. The author, Jane Austen, was a British novelist who was born in a small country town. Austen didnt go to regular schools, but she read many literary works at her parents guidance. She started writing about the age of 20, and published six novels. Jane was unmar
6、ried all her life. She described a truthful picture of her world, especially the marriage and love between gentleman and ladies by her meticulous feminine observation. It mainly describes the development of the relationship between Elizabeth Bennet, an intelligent young woman and the daughter of a c
7、ountry gentleman, and Fitzwilliam Darcy, a rich and haughty aristocratic landowner. The story follows the main character Elizabeth Bennet as she deals with issues of manners, upbringing, morality, education and marriage in the society of the landed gentry of early 19th-century England. Jane Austen just attached great significance to marriage through her novel by telling people that marriage should be
10、 regarded carefully cause it is not a game you could just enjoy without prudent consideration. She also wanted to deliver information that marriage should be based on real love between the lovers. Besides, marriage does not mean the act of uncontrolled passion but a complex engagement between the ma
11、rrying couple and society. Elizabeth was a clever and smart girl, although she was not the most beautiful one. She was also an independent girl and always had an individual opinion, because Elizabeth was an educated girl, although she learned by herself. So education is very important to women. I th
12、ink Elizabeth has personality ethic which caused her independent idea about love and marriage and in consequence she earned a happy life. Darcy was handsome man and he seemed very noble. He was very wealthy, but he was very proud and rude in other peoples eyes. Because of the education he had in his
13、 childhood, he first ignored Elizabeths merits because of the social position shewas in and the relatives she had. But later, he realized Elizabeths smart and beauty and proposed to her. Elizabeth and Darcys marriage is a perfect one. The female subject Elizabeth is a mid-class girl, and Darcy propo
14、sed to her regardless of the gap between them, but Elizabeth refused because of his pride had formed Eli s prejudice. Cause Darcys pride was a suggest of status gap between he and Eli, he wouldn t have the same thought with Eli and consequently the ideal marriage. But later Darcys doingsespecially h
15、is change of the prideful manner eliminated Elis misunderstandings and prejudice about him, and Elizabeth accepted his proposal. At the beginning of Pride and Prejudice, a sentence reads “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a w

Elizabeth and Darcys marriage just coincided with Austen s basic requirements. It was Elizabeths optional marriage based on her personal
18、value that made her get the final happiness and curbed Darcys arrogant as well. They thus established an equal relation based on mutual understanding and respect. So their marriage was the most harmonious one in the novel. Jane was the oldest in Bennet s family. She was the most beautiful one among
19、her sisters. But she was shy and lack of self confidence. So she was afraid to speak out that she loved. Bingley was also very wealthy , but he was more approachable than Darcy. Similar to Jane, he was lack of courage and had no definite views of his own on his marriage. They were met on a ball. Jan
20、e was attracted by Bingley s handsome appearance, and Bingley also indulged in Janes beauty. So they fell in love with each other at the first sight. Although Jane loved Bingley very much, as a lady, she never showed her love. And she was within an inch of losing such a good man. Bingley was also no
21、t a strong-minded person. Influenced by his friend Darcy and family, he left Jane. But fortunately, this couple got married at last. In my opinion, their marriage was just based on the attraction between each other. Actually, they were lack of confidence and understanding with each other. Although t
22、his marriage appeared a happiness one, some crisis was hidden. The style of her works is humorous and rich in comic conflicts, so many readers love them. From the late eighteenth to the nineteenth century, vulgar and boring sentimental novels and gothic novels were full in British literary. But Jane
23、s novel iconoclastic showed mid-class of daily life and pastoral scenery in British countryside at that time which had not been capitalist industrial revolution impacted,. Although the breadth and depth of the reflection was limited, it played good effect to change the vulgar atmosphere in novels. P
24、ride and prejudice are our common weakness and shortcomings. Every person actually is easy to be driven by his own subjective impression. So it can comment easily to other people under incorrectness, then it will cause misunderstandings between each other. A person s first impression can affect many
