IntroductionEnglish is a popular languageespecially in the new century.As is known to us all,it is more widely used language in the developing world.Nowadays in the international communications and competitions, personals with high ability of Spoken-English have mo

2、re and more important position. In the traditional approach to English teaching, most class time is spent with the teachers instructing and the students watching, listening and writing. The training of students spoken English is unconsciously neglected. Students easily become passive receivers of kn

3、owledge. Even in the class of listening and speaking, only a few students can get one or two minutes to talk because of the large class which often contains more than 50 students. It is unrealistic to let every student make a speech within forty minutes. Under this situation, students opportunities

4、to use and practice English are limited. Another fact is that students seldom speak English after class, which makes the problem more serious. Language is for communication. Our purpose to learn English is to use the language to exchange ideas, get information, and communicate with others, etc. but

5、not just to pass the examinations.2. The important of spoken English2.1The important of spoken English for teaching Teaching is very important, the final goal in spoken English teaching is to students to speak English clearly, fluently, accurately, appropriately, and to improve the students oral Eng

6、lish expression and communicative competence. For most English language learners in China, English spoken by their classroom teachers is the main source of target language input. English teaching is linked together with knowledge in class and outside class. Students are active to spoke English and s

7、tudy English, which is the aim of spoken English teaching. Teacher should also let the students understand what they have learn from listening to lessons is passive and taking notes is nothing but theories and they havent done any practice yet.2.2 The important of spoken English for studentIn class

8、student must understand what is the teacher say, this is very important. If student can understand what is teacher said, that can learn English well. The improvement of spoken English is good for students reading and writing. And they can analyze question, too. They are never passive listeners but a

9、ctive participants in class. To improve students english of speaking and listening , firstly, we shall help them to get interested in english . secondly, speaking english also needs to speak loudly . dont be shy to speak . please speak up . try your best to open your mouse .teachers also need to hav

10、e confidence in studentes and tell them that they are the best . thirdly, listening is a hard job . but we had better listeng many english tapes ,such as crazy english. only if listen enough will you have abilities to listen wel.3. The reason why student are poor at spoken English 3.1 Factor of the

11、student themselvesThe student lack the motion in English, some of the student do not like the English they feel the English is very boring. And their English is not well, too.When students speak English is not sure myself for it. The students lack interest of spoken English. In order to improve spok

12、en English, student have to bear so many phonetic symbols, words and phases in mind and have to learn idiom and sentence pattern by heart. So they must spend a lot of time in remembering, which make spoken English difficult. As time goes by they lost interest and self-confident to practice it.3.2 Fa

13、ctor of the teacherBecause a teacher cannot look at every group at the same time, some students will use their native language, which is always a big problem in group work. “The most important factor, however, is setting the climate for group work. First, impress upon students the importance of prac

14、tice in the second language for eventual success. Second, appeal to various motivational factors affecting them so that they can see some real use for English in their own lives. Third, demonstrate how enjoyable the various small group tasks and games and activities are. Careful selection and admini

15、stration of group activities helps to insure such pleasure 4. The way to improve spoken English4.1 CommunicationWe study spoken English so as to make oral communications, so this order of importance of oral English study should be followed: Fluency, Accuracy, and Appropriateness. That is to say, we

16、have to pay more attention to practical communicating ability instead of only laying emphasis on the grammatical correctness. Try to find some partners practicing oral English together and English corner is a good place as where we may exchange English study experience, widen our sight and improve i

17、nterest in English.Communication with other and that can improve your spoken English. 4.2 PronunciationGet over any fear of not being able to pronounce correctly or make mistakes, because you will do them anyways and that is the way to learn. Books and teachers alike have defined the subject as cons

18、isting of the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking, with grammar and vocabulary then being drawn out of texts-either spoken or, more usually, written ones. No one skill was given more status over any other, though students tended to spend more time writing and reading than they di

19、d listening and speaking. Now think of our own language use-either in our mother tongue or in a language you speak well.4.3 listeningEnglish that us used daily by native speakers is much simpler and much different that anything you can read. Listen to what they say to each other and make note of it.

20、 The only way to get better at listening is to practice it. Podcasts are a great way to do it but you need to find one for your level. Young kids can speak fluently in any language but they cant read or write. They learn all of this from listening. It doesnt matter your ages, you can make huge impro

21、vements if you spend more time listening to native speech you can understand. After a certain point, the English will start to flow naturally from your mouth. Dont quit though. This takes several hours of dedicated listening before you will notice anything. If you listen for 50 hours, you will be sh

22、ocked at how much youve improved.Learning English well needs perseverance and accumulation. We should devote more time to learning English.4.4 VocabularyVocabulary is nothing if you cant understand it when it is spoken. Vocabulary is very important for learn English. If you want to learn English wel

23、l you must learn the words well. You must know how to read it and what is the meaning, some time you can write it. Improve you spoken English you must speak dont be shy when you speak, and you must remember the word. Speak with other more and more time.5. ConclusionI do not claim to have a magic for

24、mula for language learning. Nevertheless, based on these and data from real successful language learners, I suggest you will improve your English skills if you do the following: Move beyond a motivation what simply desires to pass a test to one that views language as a key that unlocks opportunities

25、. Listen to comprehensible input on a daily basis. Overcome fear of losing face. Find and take advantage of opportunities to use English to communicate with both native and proficient nonnative speakers. Study grammar in a way that supports the purpose of language, communication, not as an end in it

26、self. Do not fear losing face. Fear poor English skills! Do not complain about your environment! Do the best you can in the environment you are in!To improve spoken English ability is an important aim of studying English. In different ways, spoken English teaching goes through the whole English teac

27、hing .English teaching is linked together with knowledge in class and outside class, which the students main body role in class and enhances English teachers guiding role.
