6、learning ,learning interest , primary school , pupils: IntroductionEnglish teaching is not a piece of easy work, especially, many students are losing their interest and showing negative attitude towards English learning. It seems that students are not willing to learn the words, recite the dialogues
7、 and finish the exercises. Einstein once said “Interest is the best teacher.” That means interest plays an important part in learning. To some degree, the effective way to make the English teaching and learning go smoothly is to improve students interest in English learning. As the saying goes that
8、interest is the best teacher and it is quite true that the students initiative in learning is difficult to spur without interest Therefore, stimulating the pupils interest in learning English is extremely meaningful. All the teachers should try their best to arouse their students interest in English
9、 learning in order to help students learn English well in the shortest possible time. They should use various methods according to the different time, different places and different persons to stimulate students interest, enhance the teaching effect in English classroom and improve the students abil
10、ity to learn English. The Definition of InterestTo explain in psychological terms, interest is a feeling that makes the individual want to pay attention to something or to find out more about it. Everyone will give priority to things which he/she have interest in and explore actively. For example, i
11、f a person is interested in singing, he/she will seek opportunities to participate in singing actively and feel happy, relaxed and satisfied when doing that. Interest is not only to concern the superficiality of things, but contact with emotion and awareness of people. When a person has no cognition
12、 to one thing, he will not have feelings, and therefore, will not be interested in it. The interest for a persons individual development has the huge function to a persons life and the activity. Professor Ding Zhaozhong once said, “Any scientific research needs the interest importantly. It may make
13、the human concentrate the energy to obtain the knowledge, and complete the current activity creatively, develop the intellect, enrich the knowledge, open the vision”. The students once have the strong interest in English, along with it we can stimulate their desire for studying. Interest in English
14、LearningInterest is a kind of positive factor in English learning, and has the function that teachers and students cannot underestimate in the English teaching and learning. It is important for the teacher to give great attention to the development of the students interest, and of course, this is th
15、e key to success of English learning. As everyone knows, interest is the best teacher in English learning. From the psychological point of view, interest is an active factor for mankind to explore things and perform certain activities, and has a tendency to concentrate ones efforts on learning. Inte
16、rest also plays a leading role in English learning. The interest of learning is an important integrant in the course of teaching and learning, and it is the most active and realistic factor of initiative and enthusiasm. Only those who have strong interest in English learning can do well and get the

At last he will be able to make much progress and win great success in English learning.With the reform of educ

Only under the guidance of great efforts together with the strong interest can teachers help students learn English well and enjoy the happiness of English learning.Besides, interest is the active power of English lea
20、rning, and runs through the whole learning process. So in the school education, teachers should pay more attention to train and maintain the students interest of English learning. Interest is also the internal power for spurring students enthusiasm; therefore, teachers should use various methods acc

Teachers situation English teaching in China is d
22、ominated, to a large extent , by the teacher-centered, text-oriented practices; and little attention is paid to the training of the students interest. The traditional methods are mainly referred to as didactics . It is a kind of teaching method in which the main task of a teacher is to lecture and e
23、xplain the linguistic knowledge and the main task of students is to listen and take notes. They only except the knowledge passively given by a teacher , instead of being active to use their brains to understand ,remember and use the knowledge . Therefore ,didactics is unbeneficial for the students t
24、o play their main role ,and should not be frequently used in English teaching .2. Students situationDuring a lesson , most students just kept silent and acted as audience .They seldom spoke English or raised their hands to answer the teachers questions voluntarily , and some even fell asleep . It se
25、emed that they were attaching little importance to their English lesson .There were two main reasons for their non-participation: one is that some students have lost interest in learning English ,and the other is that some have lost their hope in learning English due to their poor basic knowledge .H
26、ow to improve students interest in primary English teaching5.1 .Establish harmonious teacher-student relationshipGu Tueguo once said , “If only the students are closed to teacher, they would love the teachers lesson.”(1999,p264). In other words, when the students like and cling to the teacher, they
27、will love the subject that the teacher teaches. Therefore, to carry out teaching and learning smoothly, teachers should build a harmonious relationship with the students . All of the students are equal and they have the same right to accept education al school. So teachers should tread each student
28、equally and have to make the students feel that they are as important as any other students in teachers eyes. Moreover, teachers win dignity and respect from the students. Meanwhile teachers also need to make friends with the students equally, communicate with them and know them well with both life
29、and study. It is an annoying thing that talking about the study but nothing. Teachers should spare an eye on students life, too. A good study cant be apart from a steady life. When the students feel it glad to talk with the teacher, they will love to listen to the lesson. Especially, English need to
30、 make dialogues. When teachers and students are closed enough, they will find it easy to talk with their teacher easily. Besides, giving the students more praise than criticism will win surprise harvest. Praise helps students make confident. Once the students build confidence in one subject, would t
31、hey be interested in it. Teacher should give more encouragement and praise to the students rather than some strict and cold words on them. When they make a little progress, praised words can be given to them, such as, “Very good ” , “ Good job”, “Well done”, “ You are clever”, “Wonderful.”, “Great”,
32、 “Excellent”, or give big hands for them .They will feel great and will make greater effort in it.In one word , teachers should give students more care , more concern and more courage .5.2. Create English-learning AtmosphereEnglish is a foreign language. Students have little chance to hear and say i
33、t out of class. As far as the English learning in primary school is concerned , most of the students rely on the teacher lead them to the English world. Language learning can not go without atmosphere. During the class, teachers should create English-learning atmosphere, which helps students learn E
34、nglish easily. Using English classroom language as much as possibly is a common way. It will offer the students the greatest chance to hear English. With the limitation of students vocabulary, teachers have to simplify the teaching language. The body language helps a lot. Teachers would use facial e
35、xpression and body movement to make the student get the meaning easily. They will possibly find it interesting and imitate the teachers tone and facial expression. That will make the students immerse themselves in the English world and help to make the class vividly. Moreover , teachers can encourag
36、e the students speak English in daily life out of the class as possible as they can . They like it very much .5.3. Design Wonderful LessonsPreparing work goes before effective class. Teachers have to prepare the lesson well is beyond doubt. A good preparation bases on the teaching material as well a
37、s the students. Teachers should learn the teaching materials thoroughly and understand the students who are going to be given lesson well. Besides, a clear teaching procedure must be borne in mind. That means teachers need to be familiar with the clues and make sure that the class will be carried ou
38、t step by step. A good lesson not only means the students grasp the knowledge well but learn it in an easy and vivid way. Then it asks for the teachers to create some effective methods to present the lesson and useful ways to consolidate it. This step should be finish before the lesson. It is an ass
39、urance for an vivid lesson which can arouse students interest.5.4.Organize a variety of classroom activities in English class .Language learning, to some extent, its a boring activity. So, the teacher should organize interesting activities based on the related contents in the English textbooks along
40、 with creating harmonious teaching atmosphere.These are the activities I used in English teaching :a. Actions . It is widely used in word teaching . Teacher do an action and students guess the word or one student do an action ,the other student guess the word. b. Questions and answers . It is widely
41、 used in the sentence teaching . Chose a line students , the first one ask and the second answer ,then the second one ask and the third one answer, the rest may be deduce-d by analogy.c. Bomb game . It is widely used in the new word teaching .When teach the new words , put a “bomb”under one word , s
42、tudents cant read the word ,or it may be exploded .d. Role-play . It is widely used in the dialogue teaching . Teacher can chose several students to act out the dialogue .e. Songs or chants . English songs and chants play a great role in motivating students to learn English. They can be used not onl
43、y for purposeful language practice, but also for motivating students interests and enhancing students involvement in learning EnglishThere are many other activities which can improve students interest in English learning . Teachers should chose different activities in different teaching steps . In o
44、ther words , all the activities should fit for the students and be good for the teaching . ConclusionIn truth, interest plays a leading role in learning English and the interest of learning is an important integrant in the course of teaching and learning. It is also the most active and realistic fac

First of all, teachers and students must know the importance of interest in English teaching and learning, For students, on one hand, they should cultivate and build their interest and determination of learning English, have the clear intention to le
46、arn, the positive attitude, and improve their English practical ability. On the other hand, students should pay attention to building and developing the interest in learning English, and gradually cultivate good habits of learning English seriously. They have to get right methods of learning English
47、 step by step. For teachers, theyd better adopt more useful and new teaching methods to enliven the classroom atmosphere, guide students to maintain the interest of learning. Furthermore, teachers have to pay more attention to improving their own professional abilities and enrich their own knowledge
48、 and skills to meet the great changes in educational reforms and opening up to the outside world. In addition, it is very important and necessary for teachers to stimulate the students interest greatly, and arouse their enthusiasm to seek knowledge and skills. Theyd better also adopt proper measures to bring out the students interest in English learning in the long run.In a word, all the teachers and students must spare no effort to work hard in the process of teaching and learning. The most important thing is to spur students interest to heighten the teaching effect in Engli
