1、Love and StruggleRecently, Ive read a book named “The Story of My Life” written by Helen Keller. As we all know, Helen Keller is a strong women in mentality. Winston Churchill once said “She is the greatest woman of our age.” When I opened the book, I foreboded I would have a wonderful journey, toge
2、ther with Helen Keller, in this book which is full of surprise and moving details.I would like to put my essay into two parts. First, I will introduce the book “The Story of My Life” in a simple way. And then I want to share some of my feelings and views with you, which I will put my most emphasis o
3、n.This book is written into three parts. The first two, Miss Kellers story and the extracts from her letters, form a complete account of her life as far as she can give it. The third part is a supplementary account of her life and education. And I think it is an addition of a further account of Miss
4、 Kellers personality and achievements which helps to make clear some of the traits of her character and the nature of the work which she and her teacher have done. From these three parts, we can briefly learn about some fundamental information. Helen Adams Keller was not only an author, but also an
5、activist and lecturer. She was the first deaf-blind graduate of Radcliffe College. Later, she became a high-profile socialist, and throughout her life she was a strong advocate for the blind and deaf communities, visiting over 35 countries and publishing fourteen books about her experiences, which h
6、ave been translated into more than 50 languages.Secondly, I want to talk about my feelings after reading the book. In this book, Helen Keller taught me two important things love and struggle. Love this world and struggle with your fate! In chapter 1, Helen showed us her sore in both body and mentali
7、ty due to her blindness and deafness. However, she still expressed her love for every flower and every plant which represents every beautiful thing in the world. In our real life, most of us live a better life than Helen did. No child ever drank deeper of the cup bitterness than she did, whereas we
8、still complain and lose desire and confidence to our life. How could that be? I want to show you this conversation between her teacher and her in chapter 6 What is love?, I asked. She drew me closer to her and said, It is here, pointing to my heart. Yes, at first, Helen Keller didnt understand what
9、the word “love” meant, like a newly-born baby. However, she learned every word very hard and finally depicted that Knowledge is love and light and vision. She taught me that love is hope. If you love this world and love everyone besides you in your heart of hearts, you will treat everything with opt
10、imism and certainly live a happy life.The second thing that Helen taught me is struggle. Struggle with unfair fate; Struggle for admission to college; Struggle for whatever you want! Thirteen years ago she made up her mind to learn to speak, and she gave her teacher no rest until she was allowed to
11、take lessons, although wise people, even Miss Sullivan, the wisest of them all, regarded it as an experiment unlikely to succeed and sure to make her unhappy. It was such perseverance that made her go to college. After she had passed her examinations and received her certificate of admission, she wa
12、s advised by the Dean of Radcliffe and others not to go on. But Helen did and she learned Elementary and Advanced German, French, Latin, English, and Greek and Roman history. But she was not satisfied until she had carried out her purpose. Her life has been a series of attempts to do whatever other
13、people do, and do it as well. Her success has been complete, for in trying to be other people she has come most fully to be herself. Her unwillingness to be beaten has developed her courage. Where another can go, she can go.Mark Twain has said that the two most interesting characters of the nineteen
14、th century are Napoleon and Helen Keller. The admiration with which the world has regarded her is more than what she has done. No one can tell any great truth about her which has not already been written, and all that I can do is to learn more from her and put what I have learned into practice.Usefu

Secondly, it uses a very vivid metaphor to indicate Helens wisdom.)3. She
22、was tall and slender, with eyes set wide apart and slightly longer than usual; her somewhat prominent cheekbones complemented her longish face. (This is a sentence that describes a girls appearance. After reading this, you will feel that there is a charming and beautiful lady appearing in your mind. I think it is very graphic.)4. Life is like going on a road. You fall down. What then? Do you sit down and cry and refuse to get up? No, you pick yourself up and go on again. You can take a good rest and in a little time you will get over it.(It is philosophical and useful in your life, isnt it?)
