1、Comparison between Chinese and American cultures and attitudes China is an ancient country with four thousand years history, while America is a young country having only existed for several hundred years. Different histories have different influence. Chinese have a large heritage from Confucius but
2、at the same time our minds are much easier to be restricted by him. For example, he told us children should obey their parents whatever they said; If your father asked you to die, you should kill yourself. Childrens voices werent heard at all for a long time. Americans dont get that kind of restrict

Here are come comparisons between Chinese and American attitudes and cultures.Chinese are famous for their hospitality and reserve just as American are famous for
4、being frank and outspoken. However, with time going on, something changed. We Chinese still entertain our friends at banquets, hoping our guests will enjoy the foods that are delicious. Thats why you can always find a pair of serving chopsticks on the table when you are invited to a Chinese home or

On the other hand, people have given up some conservative values such as childrens unquestioning obedience to their parents. Nowadays, children and parents respect each other. Children receive much more
6、attention than before. From the news I heard that American parents will be punished if they leave their children alone at home. And I have to mention that we Chinese do not accept all things with both hands any more, unless it is a medal or certificate on public occasions. That is not to say we are
7、not as polite as ancients. Accepting things with one hand is more convenient and saves more time.Personally, I think the second point is very interesting. We do respect authority. That is because of collectivism. We are taught from a very young age that we should subordinate our personal interests t
8、o that of the collective. We are so afraid of hurting collective interests that we follow authority. Because it is usually right. Even if it is not right, we are not the ones to be blamed. Authority will take the responsibility. People dont dare do what they want and they are used to denying themsel
9、ves. Relatively speaking, I like the respect for individualism in America. No matter how big and strong one country is, it consists of individuals. People have more chance to express their feelings and can achieve more success. As for guanxi, I dont like it myself. Where there is guanxi, there is no

On the contrary, competitors who have networks of powerful friends and family may get what they want even though they are not as capable as others. Their pa

Guanxi works much better than good qualifications of those whose parents are ordinary citizens. In America, childre

In conclusion, because of differences in geography, economy and history, Chinese and American cultures and
13、 attitudes are different to some extent. But both have their advantages, so we should know, respect and learn from each other.生命列车The Train Of Life1.
Not long ago, I read a book, in which a mans life was compared to a journey.2. The life of a man is just like a hitchhiking, during which many times w
17、e go up and down. Now and then things will happen accidently, some of which are to be unexpected excitement, while some heart-breaking sorrows. 3. When first embraced the world,we are already on the train of life. We take it for granted that the first two persons, our parents, whom we are encountered
18、 with, will accompany us all the way.4. Sadly, things do not go on as we thought. Our parents will get off the train at a certain station, leaving us, bereft and helpless.Their love and emotion to us and their irreplaceable company can be found in nowhere.5. However, there will be somebody else who will
19、 get on the train. Some of them will have special meaning to us.6. Some of them may be our siblings , relatives and friends, and we will also expereince the imperishable love.7. Some of our travelling companions are quite light-hearted on the way.8. While some may bear immense sorrow.Still some ,bac

Some people alight off the train, yet they are still kept in the mind of the other passengers for long;some, to the opposite, leave their seats without being noticed.10. Sometimes, the one,who is dear to your heart, has huddl

Its a pity that you will never seat yourself beside him because the seat has been engaged by others. 13. Never m

Show your good-will to all the passengers you are encountered with, and find the merits of theirs.15. Remeber that someone may oscillate
23、 just as we do in the journey.16. We should understand others just as we need others understanding.17. The enigma of life is:Where shall we get off the train of life? And how about the companions beside us?And our friends? We dont know.18. Sometimes I think:When my time comes to get off the train, shal
24、l I miss it?I think I will.It is a suffering when I part with my friends.I will be sorry for leaving my kids going alone.I firmly hold that when we get to the terminal,we will have another reunion.19. When my kids get on the train of life, they have only little luggage in their travelling bags. However,if I can leave the beautiful memory in them,I will be happy. 20. After getting off the train of life, I will be content if my fellow passengers will remember me and miss me.21. To you , the companions on my train of life.May you have a good journey!
