Building a house costs quite a lot of money. Suppose you plan to build a house. Your first step will be to find a right piece of land. Your choice will depend on many different things. You will probably try to find a sunny place, with pleasant surroundings (环境) near shops and bus stops, not too far from your friends and the place where you work.
Next you will find a good builder, and together with the builder you will work out a plan. The builder will draw the plan. It will show the number of rooms, their position and size, and other parts, which must be noticed, such as windows, doors, and electric outlets. The builder will work out how much money is needed to build your house. He will work out the cost of the wood, bricks, the glass, and everything else that must be used in building the house. Later on, when he starts to build, this estimate (预算) must be corrected and changed because prices of such things may change, and many other things may happen between the time when he makes the estimate and the time when he builds the house.
When the builder gives his estimate, you may wish to change your plan. (You may also wish to change your builder, if his estimate is too high!) You may find that the house you wanted at first costs too much, or that you can spend a little more and add something to your plan. The builders estimate depends on the plan, but the final plan depends on the builders estimate.

A couple of days ago, I saw a dog named Cookie. He was dying of cancer(癌). The dog’s owners, Steven and Maggie were very 60 , and so did their little boy, Jimmy. I told the family we couldn’t do 61 for Cookie, and I told them that they could give the old dog the euthanasia procedure(安乐死) in their home.
The next day, I felt a catch in my throat as Cookie’s family was around him. Jimmy petted (爱抚) the old dog for the last time. In a few minutes, Cookie died 62 . The little boy seemed to accept Cookie’s death. We sat together for a while after Cookie’s death, talking about why animal lives are shorter than human lives. Jimmy, who was listening quietly, said, “I know why.”
“People are born so that they can learn how to 63 —like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” Jimmy said, “Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as 64 as human beings.”
So remember, if a dog was the teacher, you would learn things like:
l When loved ones come home, always run to meet them.
l Run, 65 , and play daily.
l Let people touch you.
l On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a big tree.
l When you are happy, dance around.

Memory and notes

In this way, you can describe your travel and write it down w 70 missing anything.
Photographs and your stories
Photographs are very useful for you to remember what you have seen. As you see the photographs, you can describe your experiences e 71 by remembering how you felt when you took them.
When you are writing about your travel stories, make sure they are not so short that your reader doesn’t get a full impression(印象)of your trip and make sure they are not so long that the reader will l 72 interest.
Make sure your stories talk about popular topics. The reader will then find your travel stories e 73 to read, and useful as well. Popular topics are food, places to stay and major things to look out for while traveling. They should also include what you’ve found useful and the things you missed.
D. Read the passage and answer the questions.(根据短文内容回答下列问题): ( 6分)
British media has been quite active for years making their listeners and viewers “April Fools” year after year on that day. Here are some funny jokes broadcast by BBC.
In 1965, BBC TV aired an interview with a scientist, saying that he had invented a way called smell-on-vision, which could transmit (传输) smell just like pictures were being transmitted to the homes of the readers. There was no such method before. People actually believed that at their homes while watching the programme!
In 1976, the British astronomer Moore, through BBC Radio 2, said at 9:47 a.m. all people could experience once-in-a-lifetime event. The Earth’s gravity (重力) would be weak and people could jump higher at the very moment and might even float(漂浮) like the astronauts do in space. A woman even called in to report that at that moment she and her friends all rose from their chairs and floated around the room. Of course, it wasn’t true!
BBC said in 1980 that Big Ben was to have a digital readout (读出器) to keep up with the modern times. The BBC Japanese service even reported that they would sell the clock hands of Big Ben to the first four listeners who called them. The first to get such a chance was a Japanese seaman, who was sailing on the sea at the time.
74. On which day did these jokes happen?
75. What did a scientist say in 1965?
76. What would happen if the Earth’s gravity become weak according to the paragraph 3?
77. Did the woman in the third paragraph float at 9:47 a.m. at home?
78. What did the Japanese seaman want to buy?
79. What does the passage mainly tell us?
