Its my great honor to stand here to give the speech today.One day, when I was watching television, I got the surprising news that China was evacuating its citizens from war-torn Libya
2、. Thanks to the effort of the Chinese government, tens of thousands of Chinese nationals safely came back to the motherland. A journalist interviewed some of the evacuees on the plane back to China and one of them said excitedly: “Im no longer panicked in face of disasters. I could feel an overwhelm
3、ing force behind me, a powerful China.”Some days ago, I chatted with a friend who went to abroad to further his education in Indonesia. When asked where to start his career after graduation, he gave me a brief yet firm answer: “Sure enough, China!” He said, “For one thing, China is my motherland whe
4、re I was born and raised; for another, the economy of China is roaring. There is much larger potential for development along with the better job perspectives.” Instead of struggling in a foreign country, many of the Chinese elites are now choosing to stay in China.In addition to these elites, ordina
5、ry people have also been deeply convinced that day by day, our country will be better-off. About four years ago, when I decided to choose English as my major in college, my brother said to me Thats one of the most foolish decisions youve ever made. Everyone speaks English now. How will you find a go
6、od job as English major?Whats more, I determined to be an English teacher after graduation. Its the dream that I have cherished since high school.Since the country has been powerful enough to provide the enormous opportunities for the elites, then ordinary people like me who have the ordinary dreams
7、 can contribute to the rapid growth of Chinas wealth and strength. I believe passion and interest should always be my top concern. That is the very reason why I devoted as much time as I can to learning and thinking during the past four years. Now, here I am, making my voice as a teacher. For young
8、people like me, there will always be moments when our beliefs are harshly challenged. We once firmly believed that we will go out there and conquer the world until one day the world conquers us, leaving us jaded and pessimistic.When I made that decision four years ago, I knew I would regret nothing
9、for holding on to my belief. This inspires me to embrace any future challenges with open arms because I know that only by defending what I hold to be true, can I have a deeper understanding of who I am and what I want. Yes, our future is on our own hands, and it is even more true to say that our cou
10、ntrys future also depends on us. I know that the road ahead of me is destined to be long and hard, yet with abundant confidence and firm belief, my friend studying overseas, and I right here as an English teacher, along with hundreds of millions of Chinese youth are ready to face numerous difficulties in the days to come.
