1、 教学设计教学课题:本单元第四课时人教版选择性必修一unit1using language:explore the meaning of greatness语篇研读:本课时是第一单元的第四个课时using language:explore the meaning of greatness.在第一课时中,学生已经学习了屠呦呦获诺贝尔奖的专题新闻报道,了解屠呦呦及其团队发现并提炼出青蒿素来治疗疟疾的主要过程。通过阅读,学生感受到了屠呦呦及其团队的艰辛和伟大,了解到了传统中医药对人类健康和世界发展的突出贡献和价值。在这一课时中,学生将了解更多的伟大人物,并就其伟大原因展开讨论,探寻伟大的含义。文本分
2、析:听力活动是听一段发生在Mr Wang, 他女儿Wang Lin及女儿的朋友Anna Smith三人之间的对话。对话从埃隆马斯克的科技公司的最新成就开始,引出了三人对“伟大”与“成功”的讨论。本单元的语言功能项目是在对话中用来争取思考时间的填充语。此外,对话中表达意见的语言有“Id say.”“Its great., but.”“Well, youre right., but .” “Dont forget.”,等等。对话还体现了代际沟通的交流策略,包括长辈对晚辈在价值观上的引导,以及晚辈如何向长辈恰当地表示赞同或不赞同。在语言表达形式上,对话聚焦发表观点和陈述理由的表达,既关注交际策略,又
3、体现本单元的语言功能项目。在思想和内容上,除了马云,钟南山,埃隆马斯克,弗洛伦斯南丁格尔,亚历山大弗莱明等著名人物,对话中还赞扬了像Dr Wang这样,在孩子眼中也很伟大的普通人。对话展示了对名利,社会贡献和成功途径的不同看法,可以启发学生思考人生意义和价值。 学情分析:总体来说,本班学生英语基础比较好,要听懂听力材料应该没有问题。但学生目前处于高一,所学的词汇量和阅读范围有限,要深入地谈论杰出人物,并且流畅地用英语表达出来可能存在问题,需要老师给予辅助。教学目标:1. 听懂并理解探讨人物成就和人物品质的对话。能够在听的过程中,借助表达因果关系的语言,理解语篇信息。2. 能够运用口头表达时用填
4、充语争取思考时间的交际策略。3. 能够以口头和书面的形式,有条理地叙述人物经历和评价人物成就。4. 启发学生理解“伟大”和“成功”的含义并发表自己的见解。教学重难点:教学重点:1.听懂并理解探讨人物成就和人物品质的对话。能够在听的过程中,借助表达因果关系的语言,理解语篇信息。2.能够运用口头表达时用填充语争取思考时间的交际策略。3.能够以口头和书面的形式,有条理地叙述人物经历和评价人物成就。教学难点:指导学生捕捉对话中表达因果关系的关键词,指导学生运用教材中提供的语言功能项目有效地维持交流,启发学生理解“伟大”和“成功”的含义并发表自己的见解。教学过程:Lead-in:(3min)In the
5、 reading passage, we talked about a great person-Tu Youyou. Whats her achievement? She is awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine for the discovery of artemisinin, a crucial new treatment for malaria, which has saved hundreds of thousands of lives. She is really a great person worth respecting. Today w
6、e are going to talk about some more great people.Look at the six pictures of great people and ask the students:Do you know these people? Who are they?What are they? Then match the people with achievements.Purpose: to arouse students interest and lead in the topic.Assessment of learning: students are
7、 becoming interested in the topic to be talked about.Activity1:(4mins)listen to the conversation for the first time and check if their match is right.Purpose:practise listening for gist through a natural conversation in English about people of achievement.Assessment of learning: students can catch t
8、he main idea and match the people with their achievements correctly.Activity2: (4mins)listen to the conversation again and tick the people each speaker admires in the table.Purpose:practise listening for opinions through a natural conversation in English about people of achievement.Assessment of lea
9、rning: students can choose the people each speaker admires successfully.Activity3:(8min)listen for the third time and get more details about the speakers opinions and reasons. Fill in the form and then ask students to discuss the three questions in Exercise3 with the help of the form.Purpose:practis
10、e listening for reasons through a natural conversation in English about people of achievement.Assessment of learning: Students get more detailed information and get a tip about how to listen for reasons.Activities 4 and 5:(12min) Do you know other great people? Show students some pictures of great p
11、eople. They are Chairman Mao, Zhang Guimei, Yuan Longping, Norman Bethune, Edison, Qian Xuesen, Lu Xun, Lang Ping, Marie Curie. Students can also think of other great people they admire. Ask students to make a dialogue about the person they admire and the reasons why they are great. Try to use the l
12、anguage fillers to give time to think. Give students a sample dialogue to read and follow and then ask some groups of students to present their dialogue.Purpose:put into practice all that students have learnt thus far in the unit by having a conversation about great people.Assessment of learning: st
13、udents take an active part in the discussion and they can use what they have learnt to have a conversation about great people.Activity6: (8mins)Give students some time to have a discussion and ask them to use their discussion to draw conclusions about the meaning of greatness. Use the expressions in
14、 the table to help them.Purpose: practise giving reasons and drawing conclusions.Assessment of learning: students have a heated discussion and they can express their understanding of the meaning of greatness freely.Activity7:(1min)The teacher makes a summary based on what the students say. We can le
15、arn so much from the great people, such as their devotion to their career, their spirit of never giving up in the face of difficulties, their positive contributions to society. However, we dont need to be famous to be great. There are also many great people around us, such as our mother and our teachers who work tirelessly to make us live better. As long as we work hard and try our best to do everything and make contributions to society in our ordinary jobs, we can be great people.
