Astronomy: the science of the stars 【Reading:How life began on the earth】科目: 英语教学对象: 高一学生课时: 1提供者:张昌培单位:宁波滨海学校一、教学内容分析 本单元从天文学知识开始,再到地球生命的起源,让学生了解相关的天文知识、培养学生对科学的兴趣、激发学生探究科学的热情的同时,反思人类活动对地球的影响,进而增强保护地球的意识。本课时设计将Warming up,Pre-reading,Reading和Comprehending四部分结合,
2、整合成一个完整的阅读课教学。二、教学目标1.语言知识 (Knowledge)词汇(Vocabulary):atmosphere, violent-violence, solid, explode, oxygen, surface, planet, harmfulharm, developmentdevelop, spread, method, presence, telescope, disappointed, force, gradually, float, mass, 短语(Phrases and expressions):the solar system, in time, carbon
3、 dioxide, prevent from, depend on, cheer up, now that, break out,2. 语言技能 (Skills)本课时通过教学主要让学生获取关于astronomy的相关信息,且进行阅读微技能训练。3学习策略(Strategy):学生能在一定程度上形成合作学习、自主学习、有效交际、信息处理和英语思维的能力。如:培养学生使用图书馆、网络查阅有关星球的资料。4情感态度(Affect):让学生了解生命的起源,增强其保护地球的意识。培养学生科学探索的精神。培养学生正确的阅读观,和良好的阅读习惯,加强其自主阅读的能力。培养学生合作和共享的学习态度。三、学习
4、者特征分析所执教班级学生英语基础普遍不佳,对英语表达(书面和口语)和阅读理解方面而言更是很有困难。但是通过一个多学期与学生的磨合,能得到学生的认可和亲近,这与我一直坚持对学生非智力因素方面的努力有关,所以绝大部分学生乐学。本课时涉及的教学内容与科普阅读有关,而且出现大量的生词,这对学生阅读能力是一个考验。所以在备课和课堂教学中需要把复杂的此类教学内容简化,做好篇章的分析指导,使学生更好地理解了课文,清晰了解课文脉络。四、教学策略选择与设计本单元以地球以及地球生命的起源为话题,让学生了解相关的天文学知识,培养学生对科学的兴趣,激发学生探究科学的热情。本课时设计将Warming up,Pre-re
5、ading,Reading和Comprehending四部分结合,整合成一个完整的阅读课教学。通过本课时的教学使学生对本单元的话题和主要内容有基本了解,以利于开展后续教学活动。同时通过文章中的一些探究性问题,如:The earth may become too hot for the lives on it. Then what will our future be? 以及设计问题:Do you think theres a chance to find intelligent beings(Alien/ET) on other planet(s) in the universe? Can w
6、e find them or can they find us? 等引发学生的热烈讨论,从而激发学生对天文学的了解和探究兴趣。五、教学重点及难点本单元文章中专业名词较多,对学生是难点之一。同时又是典型的科技文类型阅读,此类文体是高一学生乃至高中学生阅读的难点所在。在教学中如何引导学生分析科技类阅读文章的特点,理清文章脉络,对学生进行阅读技能训练是教学的重点所在。六、教学过程教师活动学生活动设计意图Step 1: Warming Up/Before reading 1. What should we do?学生4-5人一组进行讨论通过了解地球生物的发展直到人类的出现,而人类活动对地球环境造成了影响,此处讨论的设计能较好地激发学生对环保这一主题的关注并发表自己的观点,达到一个高潮。Step 3. Summarizing and Passage Analyzing:A:Summary of the whole passage:a cloud of

Do you think it is well written?According to the time order.(From the very beginning till life began on the earth)Make it clear to readers the development of the earth and life on it.(simple, clear)学生根据对文章的理解分析篇章的写作特点通过对文章的分析,使学生更好地理解了课文,清晰了解课文脉络,同时掌握此类文章的写作技巧(按时间顺序发展)。

Do you think theres a chance to find any intelligent beings (Alien/ET) on other planet(s) in the universe? Can we find them or can they find us?!学生4-5人一组进行讨论通
17、过对地球以及地球生物发展的了解,进而带出一个问题:地球是唯一 一个有智能生物的星球,还是其他星球有类似的或更智能的生命存在?此处的设计旨在引起同学们的兴趣从而展开热烈讨论,激发了他们对天文学的进一步了解和探究的兴趣。Step 5.Homework:1. Find out language points and noun clauses in the reading passage. Discuss and analyze them.2. Rewrite the passage and use as many language points and new words as possible.3
18、. Questionnaire.学生课后完成找名词性从句(主语)为本单元的语法项目的学习做准备,同时课后巩固上课所学的内容。七、教学评价设计通过以下的一系列问题的设置,让学生对本课时阅读内容的学习进行评价:Questionnaire:1. What does astronomy deal with?2. 20、 up, now that, break out,文章结构:Time order九教学反思在本课时教学过程中,由于备课设计时充分考虑到了学生阅读理解可能出现的问题,把复杂的地球演变和生命发展这一科学进程用简单设问的形式层层推进,减少了阅读难度,整个教学流程完成得比较顺畅。课堂教学尾声时的DISCUSSION是一个高潮所在。此处的讨论设计能很好引起同学们的兴趣从而展开热烈讨论,激发了他们进一步了解和探究天文学的兴趣。因为有不同的看法,同学们踊跃发言,气氛热烈。但是因为课堂时间问题,讨论进行到一半已经下课,所以只能把它延展到课后让学生继续,并且把它作为下一节课的开始内容(现在想想,或许这并非是不好的事吧)。另外,本课时教学中未能就单元语法内容(主语从句)有所提及从而为接下来课时的教学做铺垫,这也是做得不足的地方。总体来说比较满意。专心-专注-专业
